1 About the Machine Features The Vacuum Transport System is designed for reliability, flexibility, and ease of use. Main Assemblies Review the diagram below to become familiar with names and locations of feeder parts and adjustments. This will help to prepare you for initial setup. Main Assemblies Feature Descriptions Feature Description Adjustable Nip Roller Assemblies Adjustable Product Guides Transport Belts Vacuum Belts Material control to capture products coming onto the vacuum transport. Side to side registration of products. Adjustable carrier belts depending on product width. Perforated belts that allow vacuum suction to hold products as they travel on the base. Control Panel Components Vacuum Switch Jog Button Conveyor Speed (optional) Power Switch Feeder Switch Stop Button Start Button Feeder Speed Base Speed System Stop Feature Power Switch Feeder Switch Vacuum Switch Stop Button Jog Button Start Button Feeder Speed Base Speed Conveyor Speed (optional) System Stop Description The main Power switch for the machine. Allows the operator to pause and run the feeder when it is connected to the interlock. NOTE: The interlock is also controlled by the RUN function of the transport base. The base must be running to close the interlock. If the Conveyor Stop button is depressed the interlock is opened (OFF). Turns the vacuum blower on and off. Stops the transport base. It also opens (OFF) the interlock. NOTE: If a conveyor is connected to the base, this button will stop it also. Engages the run latch for as long as it is depressed. The transport base will move, the interlock will be closed and the Conveyor output will be engaged. Starts the transport base. When connected to the interlock, this provides gap control. Controls the belt speed of the transport Base. The optional Conveyor Speed dial controls the belt speed of the takeaway conveyor that is connected to the base. The speed of this conveyor is independent of the vacuum base and adjusting the speed manually will change how the product shingles on itself. Slower speed = greater shingling. Higher speed = less shingling. Press to immediately stop the base. All components connected to the interface connections will also come to an immediate stop. 3 VTC-6 Console Manual

2 Operation When performing initial feeder adjustments prior to operation, always make sure you turn Off the main power switch and disconnect all equipment from the electrical power source. Failure to do so can expose you to a potential startup and moving parts which can cause serious injury. Do not attempt to make any adjustments while the feeder and machine of application are running. Failure to do so can expose you to moving parts which can cause serious injury. Do not wear loose clothing when operating the feeder. Avoid making adjustments with loose or unsecured parts. This can potentially damage parts. Procedure 1. Turn Power Switch to ON position. 2. Release System Stop button if depressed. 3. Turn Vacuum Power Switch to ON posistion. 4. Press Start Button. 5. Adjust Base Speed to desired speed. 6. Turn Feeder Switch to ON position (feeder must be powered on). For information related to feeder, please refer to its manual. 7. Adjust Feeder Speed to desired product spacing (gap). 8. If equipped, adjust Conveyor Speed. 5 VTC-6 Console Manual

3 Inspection and Care Visually inspect your machine to detect part problems which may require adjustment or replacement. Periodically care for your machine to prevent any operational problems. Clean belts regularly for optimum performance using standard isopropyl alcohol. Clean deck top debris by blowing off with clean compressed air. VTC-6 Console Manual 6

4 Technical Troubleshooting General Troubleshooting Only a qualified technician should perform electrical troubleshooting activities. This unit operates on 115V or 230V electrical power. Bodily contact with these voltages can result in serious injury or death. Problem Base does not power up Solution Make sure the Power Switch is in the ON position. Make sure power cord is plugged in. Check incoming voltage from outlet source. Make sure interlock is jumpered (If applicable). Make sure the speed pot is not at minimum setting. Press the start button. Check fuse F1. Confirm that Relay K-1 engages when power switch is turned on. Vacuum pump does not power up Make sure the Power Switch is in the ON position. Check fuse F1. Check fuse F2. 7 VTC-6 Console Manual

Problem Base will not start Solution Make sure the Power Switch is in the ON position and the Base has Power. Press the Start button. Make sure the Base speed pot is not at minimum setting. Make sure the downstream Device Interlock is active (If applicable). Make sure interlock is jumpered (If applicable). Check Line and Armature fuses on the Drive Board (located inside electrical panel). Make sure the drive belt is not broken. Weak vacuum Make sure the vacuum blower is on. Make sure the vacuum relief valve is closed. Make sure the belts are lined up with the vacuum veins in the table. Make sure the vacuum blower filters are not clogged. VTC-6 Console Manual 8
