Number of Students Summary & Results At a Glance: LIFT Power Math Camp 2016 77 students 12 days 74 classes skipped $24,864 saved in tuition This year s LIFT Power Math Camp produced solid results. It involved working with 77 LIFT students for 12 days over a three-week period. The goal was to help these students refresh on basic math knowledge so that they could place into a higher-level math course; the majority of these students had already take the Accuplacer Math Placement Test and placed into developmental mathematics (MAT08X or MAT09X). The first day was used for a pre-test, and the twelfth day was used to re-take the Accuplacer in the Testing Center. All other days were used to review and refresh basic math knowledge. The topics covered ranged from basic arithmetic through college algebra. In addition to refreshing math knowledge, the Camp provided students an excellent opportunity to build a sense of community, connectedness, and belonging on our campus. After this brief yet intensive review, 62.3% (48 students) placed into a higher-level math course. Prior to Camp, 80.5% (62 students) had tested into developmental courses. After Camp, 46.8% (36 students) tested into developmental courses. The graph below shows the collective pre-camp and post-camp placements for these 77 students. Individual data follows on the next page.
