IMPORTANT: PLEASE KEEP THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR FUTURE REFERENCE! 2015-16 Lexus NX Fine Mesh and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control Fine Mesh Grilles Upper Insert - factory chrome surround and emblem reused Fits 200t and 300h+ models - Will not fit NX 200 F-Sport model Upper Chrome Fine Mesh Part #1378-010U-15 / Upper Black Ice Fine Mesh Part #1378-B10U-15 Upper Stacked Fine Mesh Grille Part #1378-080U-15 Upper Chrome Dynamic Radar Cruise Control Fine Mesh Part #1378-010U-15AC - TBA Upper Black Ice Dynamic Radar Cruise Control Fine Mesh Part #1378-B01U-15AC - TBA TOOLS REQUIRED 1 Automotive grade masking tape, #2 phillips screwdriver, pliers, electric drill, 1/16 & 1/8 drill bits, razor blade or X- Acto knife, large and small flat blade screwdrivers, 10mm, 9mm sockets and ratchet, flat or semi-gloss black paint, solvent, glass cleaner and soft, clean cloths. Not yet available 2 1. Open the hood and remove the factory push fasteners securing the radiator support panel cover and remove the cover. 2. Use a flat blade screwdriver or plastic clip removal tool to remove the factory large and small push pins securing the top of the factory bumper cover to the radiator support panel. Use a #2 phillips screwdriver to remove the fastener next to the small push fastener. Use a 10mm socket to remove the center two (2) fasteners (not shown). 3 3. Use a flat blade screwdriver or a plastic clip removal tool to remove the factory push pins from the forward edges of the factory wheel arch flares. 4 4. Optional: Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height on a lift or use a jack and jack stands. Do not rely on the jack alone to support the weight of the vehicle. If the jack fails, serious injury could occur! From underneath the vehicle, remove the factory 10mm hex bolts where the bumper cover meets the lower aero panel.
5 6 5. Remove the factory 10mm hex screws from the bottom of the bumper cover across the center and forward of the front wheels (left side shown, right side similar). 6. Use an allen wrench or hex drive socket to remove the upper inner wheel well fasteners (one each side). 7 8 8. Pull the inner wheel well out of the way and unclip the forward portion of the front fender flare by pushing in on the center of the clip (each side, see arrows). Start at the bottom and work your way up. 7. Apply masking tape to the bumper cover (under the headlights) and to the front fender as shown. 9 10 9. Continue to releasing the plastic tabs securing the front fender flares to the bumper cover until you can access the upper factory push fastener. 10. Remove the plastic push fastener securing the top of the bumper cover to the front fender (each side).
11 12 11.Pull out on the top edge of the bumper cover until it unclips from the front fender mounting channel, then pull the bumper cover forward to unclip it from underneath the headlights. 12. Pull the bumper cover out far enough to disconnect the electrical connectors on either side prior to bumper cover removal (driver side has two connectors, passenger side has three). 13 13 13 14 13. With the help of an assistant, place the bumper cover onto a clean work area and apply masking tape to protect the factory paint and chrome edges of the factory grille (as shown). Be sure to apply extra masking tape into the lower cornes of the bumper cover where the bottom of the factory chrome surround ends. 14. Remove the factory rubber seal from the edges of the bumper cover and from the top of the factory grille (save for reinstallation). If the clips stay in the bumper cover and top of the grille, you can pull them out with pliers by gently twisting them back and forth. 15 15. Use a #2 phillips screwdriver to remove the six (6) screws located on the inside of the bumper cover retaining the factory upper grille and lower moulding (right side shown). 16 16. Use a #2 phillips screwdrivers to remove the upper factory screws securing the chrome surround to the factory grille insert. Save the screws for reinstallation.
17 18 17. Use a flat blade screwdriver to unclip the factory chrome surround from the bumper cover. 18. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pull out on the retaining tabs that secure the lower moulding to the bumper while pushing out on the mounting tab. 19 20 19. Use a flat blade screwdriver to release the mounting tabs securing the factory moulding underneath the grille to the bumper cover. 20. Remove the grille from the bumper cover for chrome surround and lower moulding removal. 21 22 21. Unclip the lower moulding from the factory grille insert and save the lower moulding for reinstallation. 22. Remove the factory chrome surround from the grille insert by using a small flat blade screwdriver to lift up on the factory retainers. The chrome factory surround will be reused.
24 23 23. Once the clips have released, seperate the chrome surround (reused) from the factory grille insert (not reused). 24. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pry off the pressed on emblem retainers. It is OK if the retainers break off a portion of the mounting stud. 25 26 25. Once the retainers have been removed, push in on the lower mounting tab to release the emblem. 26. Turn the factory grille insert over and remove the emblem. 27. Grind the back of the factory grille emblem until all edges are flush. 28. Apply the supplied.045 x 1 double faced tape to the back of the factory emblem (mesh grille shown, dynamic radar cruise mesh grille will use a 3/4 ring of tape around the perimeter of the emblem (when available, not shown).
29 30 29. Peel the backing off the double faced tape, align the supplied emblem mounting plate over the emblem and press it firmly into place to set the tape. 30. Align the emblem assembly into the recessed area of the mesh grille, making sure it is perfectly centered and level. 31 32 31. Carefully turn the mesh grille over and install the supplied emblem retainer (bend should be up as shown) over the studs on the emblem mounting plate and install the supplied smal black plastic washers, #10 S.S. lock washers and #8-32 S.S. hex nuts. Tighten until the emblem is secure. 32. Align the supplied top plate over the factory chrome surround and reinstall the factory screw removed in Step 16. Leave the screws loose at this time. Align the mesh section between the chrome surround and the tabs on the top plate. There are notches in the mesh to fit around the screw bosses. The tabs on the top plate should be pressing the mesh against the inside of the factory chrome surround, then finish tightening the factory screws. 34 33 Photo available soon. 33. Align the side mesh retaining brackets (left and right), over the mesh and align them with the factory mounting boss as shown. Use a.125 drill bit to drill through the existing hole in the bracket and through the factory mounting boss. Install the supplied #8 x 3/8 black truss head screws (one each side) and carefully tighten the mesh to the factory surround. 34. For vehicles painted colors other than dark blue or black: Mask off the front of the bumper cover around the grille opening and apply flat or semi-gloss black paint to all inner edges of the bumper cover.
35 35 35 36 35. Align the assembled grille back onto the bumper cover, making sure all factory tabs and the lower studs on the mesh grille fit through the openings in the bumper cover. 36. Install the supplied large black plastic washers and #8-32 ESNA half nuts onto each of the studs on the lower portion of the mesh grille and begin tightening the ESNA nuts, leaving the grille loose for grille adjustment. 38 37 37. Reinstall the upper and center factory screws into the chrome surround. Make sure the alignment pins fit through the holes in the bumper cover. 38. Make sure the lower chrome surround alignment pins pass through the slots in the bumper cover. 40 39 39. Align the factory lower moulding underneath the mesh grille and clip it back into the bumper cover. Reinstall the factory screws into the outer ends (not shown). Install the supplied #8 x 3/4 black Truss head screws through the upper mounting tabs on the lower moulding to secure it to the bumper cover. Once the grille is properly centered, hand tighten the #8-32 ESNA half nuts until the bottom edge of the grille is even across the top of the factory lower moulding. 40. With the help of an assistant, reinstall the mesh grille/bumper cover assembly back onto the vehicle, reversing Steps 2 thru 12.
41 42 41. Installed two of the supplied 3/8 plated flat washers under each of the center factory bolts removed in Step 2. Snug the bolts but do not tighten them at this time for mounting depth adjustment. 42. Use a 1/8 drill bit to drill through the outer holes in the top mounting plate and into the bumper cover. Align the supplied large black plastic washer over the drilled hole and under the top mounting plate. Install the supplied #8 black truss head screw (one each side) and tighten. 44 43 43. Installed one the supplied 3/8 plated flat washers under the factory bumpers removed in Step 2. Snug the bolts but do not tighten them at this time. Reinstall the rubber moulding removed in Step 14 at this time. 44. Close the hood and adjust the grille to match the edge of the hood. Open the hood and tighten the bolts installed in Steps 41 and 43. Reinstall the factory radiator cover. 1/2 46 45. Mark the factory license plate bracket 1/2 inside from the rear edge along the top (see dashed lines). 46. Use a disc grinder to grind the top edge of the front license plate bracket to line made in the previous step. Taper the edge around to the sides of the bracket.
48 47 47. Grind down the mounting clips below the ground top edge of the bracket. 48. Use the factory screws to install the modified front license plate bracket. Finished installation.
