In-grade components under continuous attack from moisture, caustic fertilizers, soluble minerals, and ultra-violet radiation from HID lamps, are made from a choice of solid bronze or high strength glass reinforced composite. Above-grade components subject to flooding, chemical attack, debris covering the lens, vandalism, and UV bombardment from the sun, are solid heavy cast bronze and double strength glass. Housings and internal components will perform with minimal maintenance; with seals engineered to perform flawlessly, sealing tight after re-lamping. Kim made no compromises in the design of the Lightvault family of products. Because of this, Kim offers no excuses, producing an in-grade family of product with no equals. Lightvault 5 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY When installed according to Kim Installation Instructions and accepted trade practices, the solid bronze on LTV Series Kim products is warranted for 5 years, from date of sale, against manufacturing defects and failure due to corrosion. All other fixture components (excluding lamps) are warranted to be free of defects in material and workmanship for year from date of sale. During the warranty periods, with proof of purchase, Kim will repair or replace with the same or similar product, at Kim s option, without charge. Mechanical Features Positive Repeatable Lens S e a l : Robust best describes the LTV lens seal. The lens is flush mounted to the lens frame for water runoff, and surrounded by a one-piece silicone gasket. Eight large captive M" stainless steel hex socket cap screws provide enormous gasket compression. Water Runoff Lightvault : Debris and moisture are not trapped to fall into the fixture when the lens frame is removed. Others: Trapped debris and moisture fall into the fixture when the lens frame is removed. Cast Bronze and Stainless Steel Lens Rings: There are only certain materials that will withstand the constant moisture, soil chemical and UV bombardment (see below) that in-grade fixtures must endure. That is why LTV lens rings are available as cast bronze or stainless steel. The bronze material will also weather to a deep bronze color that blends with foliage and paving materials. Special Composite features: The body and ballast module are compression molded in high temperature, fiberglass impregnated composite, epoxy bonded to form a single reverse draft housing. Captive brass inserts are molded into the body to receive the M" stainless steel cap screws in the lens frame, and two L" NPT conduit taps are provided in the splice compartment. Total UV Protection: The composite housing, while unaffected by soil chemicals and moisture, is subject to UV degradation as are all plastics. In addition to the cast bronze lens frame which protects the housing top from sunlight, an internal UV guard shields the housing interior against UV radiation from HID lamps. For applications where the housing may be partially exposed, the bronze housing is unaffected. Reverse Draft Housing: To prevent the housing from uplifting in certain soil conditions, a reverse draft configuration is used. With the upper housing bottom larger than the top, a natural grip holds the fixture in place. This also provides greater interior volume for ease of wiring the fixture during installation. UV UV UV Shield Others Lightvault Uplift ±5 aiming () Anti-siphon Barriers: All wires entering and leaving the ballast compartment pass through anti-siphon barriers. This prevents any moisture from seeping into the ballast area around wiring, or siphoning through the insulation and between the conductors. The anti-siphon barrier is a one-piece molded and threaded plug installed at the factory. 4 KIM LIGHTING

Applications When conditions demand ultimate durability. 70 years experience in Landscape Lighting and 48 years of in-grade experience are incorporated into every Kim Lightvault product. A commitment to producing the most durable product possible is the core of the bronze Lightvault series. While composite products are proving to be very durable, bronze has been used for centuries in the widest range of environments imaginable, and has proven to be almost indestructible. In applications anticipated to remain in service over decades, bronze stands on a well-deserved reputation for durability. For poured-in-place concrete or cut stone: In these applications, failure of the fixture for any reason may result in damage that may not be repairable. Matching stone, brick, or marble that has aged can be virtually impossible. Using solid bronze housings provides additional assurance that stone work will remain undisturbed. Installations with exposed fixture housing: Slopes or changes in terrain expose the fixture housing to sunlight and UV radiation. Over time, this will degrade composite fixture integrity. The Bronze housing will also withstand impacts by landscape maintenance equipment. When integrated into architectural features: Integration of lighting fixtures into monumental structures can be problematic. The fixture housings may be exposed to higher stress or exposed to damage from vandalism. Solid bronze construction assures these fixtures will last for decades without loss of integrity. Where durability is of paramount concern: Servicing in-grade housings in paved areas can be virtually impossible. These applications may expose in-grade fixtures to extreme stress. The extra durability of solid bronze will stand up to the most abusive of applications. 6 KIM LIGHTING

Installation Guide Common Installation Problems The single most common error made when installing in-grade luminaires is mounting them too low. When this happens the fixture becomes a sump, collecting dirt and debris which covers the lens and blocks the light. The second most common error is planting too close to the fixture. When this happens, foliage grows over the luminaire because there is no obvious surface for landscape edge trimming. Based on four decades of experience with in-grade luminaires, Kim Lighting recommends the installation guidelines below. Isolate and Elevate. The fundamentals of a clean, maintainable installation. Create a Buffer Zone When fixtures are located in areas planted in ground cover or shrubbery, construct a buffer zone to prevent lens overgrowth and to create an edge for trimming. Elevate the fixtures for drainage and backfill with decorative rock. As the ground cover grows, the fixtures will look flush even though they are " to 4" above grade. Advantages Prevents lens overgrowth. Provides a defined edge for trimming. Provides drainage away from the lens to maintain light output. Visually looks like a flush installation. Buffer Zone Redwood or other material for edging. Rock fill " to 4" above grade. Install in Concrete Another option for installations in ground cover, shrubbery or lawn areas is to encase the fixture in concrete. This creates the buffer zone as described above, with the additional advantage of greater fixture stability. Elevate the fixture " to 4" above grade, and slope the concrete away from the lens ring for drainage. Advantages Cleaner, more stable installation, less susceptible to traffic and maintenance activity. Prevents lens overgrowth. Provides a defined edge for trimming. Provides drainage away from the lens to maintain light output. Visually looks like a flush installation. Concrete Installation Concrete must have reinforcing rods to prevent cracking from fixture heat expansion. Rock fill " to 4" above grade. NOTE: Always use adequate rebar surrounding the fixture to prevent cracking of the concrete due to heat expansion. In Paved Areas When in-grade luminaires are installed in paving, it is usually required that the lens frame be flush with finished grade. To make this installation easier, Kim offers an optional Grout Mask (page 7) to support the fixture at the proper height during the concrete pour. The Grout Mask is normally tied into the paving rebar for support. Advantages Supports fixture at proper height during concrete pour. Provides " grout space for finishing. Easily adapts to any paving material; concrete, brick, stone, etc. Provides maximum Drive-over durability. Paved Area Installation Optional grout mask supports fixture during concrete pour. Tie grout mask to rebar for support. " grout space for finishing. Encase entire fixture in Concrete NOTE: See Safety and Maintenance Notes on page 47. KIM LIGHTING 9

Controlling Moisture within In-Grade Luminaires Sources of Moisture Intrusion Moist air trapped in fixture during installation Unsealed conduit and conduit connectors Poor gasket sealing from loose cover or trapped debris Flooding caused by poor grade conditions Poor gasket seal of interior covers from loose fasteners or trapped debris Water Intrusion In order to assure that in-grade fixtures are protected from failure due to intrusion of water, observe the following essential guidelines:. Seal all conduits entering the wiring compartment. This includes both the conduit threads AND the conduit itself. Water can enter the conduit system through joints or junction boxes, and will be piped into the fixture housing if not properly sealed. Injecting RTV sealant into the end of each conduit entering the wiring compartment is essential to a water tight installation.. Use waterproof wire nuts. This provides protection against circuit failure, should water enter the junction box for any reason. 3. Make sure all gasket surfaces are completely clean before installing covers and lens rings. Any foreign objects trapped in the gasket areas will create potential points of entry for ground water. 4. Tighten all fasteners evenly and completely. All fasteners for the wiring compartments and lens rings must be properly installed and tightened evenly. It is recommended that lens ring fasteners be tightened in a cross pattern in two steps (snug and tight), to insure even pressure is applied to the entire gasket surface. 5. Never install an in-grade luminaire below the surrounding ground level. See page 9 for additional information on elevating and isolating the fixture in various surfaces. Visible Condensation on Lenses In-grade luminaires are tightly sealed bodies, with a captured atmosphere within. Condensation is caused by moisture that occurs in the air naturally (humidity) that is not completely eliminated from the interior of the fixture when it is sealed. During operation, when the luminaire is shut off, the lens cools at a faster rate than other surfaces within the fixture body. This will cause water vapor within the housing to collect on the inside of the lens. The higher the relative humidity during installation, the greater the condensation will be. The following installation guidelines will reduce the occurrence of condensation:. Never install or maintain fixtures in the rain, or on days with very high relative humidity (over 80%).. After insuring that all water and visible moisture has been dried out of the fixture, and before sealing the fixture; a.) Install the lens ring and hand tighten all fasteners, b.) Start the fixture and allow it to reach operating temperature (30 minutes or longer), c.) With the fixture still operating, loosen all lens ring fasteners and lift the lens ring slightly (no more than A"), leaving it propped open and breathing for roughly 0 minutes with the lamp operating. This will exhale the moist air trapped inside the fixture housing. d.) With the fixture still operating (illuminated) and hot, place the lens in its closed position and completely tighten all fasteners. This process will evaporate a great deal of the atmospheric moisture from the interior of the fixture, and will reduce visible condensation to a minimum. In order to maintain this, this procedure must be repeated any time the luminaire is opened for maintenance. It is highly recommended that the installer wear gloves to protect from burns caused by hot lens surfaces. Do not leave fixtures un-supervised during dry-out period. 3. Should water be found inside of the fixture that has entered through the conduit system, it is essential that the conduit system be cleaned, dried out and re-sealed before the fixture is re-sealed. 4. Every effort must be made to ensure the fixture interiors remain completely dry during installation. The debris shields provided with the fixtures are not water tight. If flooding is anticipated during the installation phase, extra effort must be made to isolate the fixtures from water intrusion, or they must be sealed off with plastic sheet and tape to prevent water entry. 5. Should the appearance of condensation increase in density or size of droplets, it is likely that water is entering the fixture. Inspect all gaskets, conduit entries, and interior covers. Once the leak has been discovered and repaired, repeat the sealing process described (# above). KIM LIGHTING 3

Application Guide Spot Visual Guideline: The Lightvault product line offers a wide range of optical systems and lamps, capable of lighting diverse architectural and landscape objects. To all but the most experienced lighting professional, it is difficult to visualize the application capabilities by simply reading the photometric charts on pages 35-46. This two page spread has been created as a visual reference and general guideline for selecting the proper Lightvault fixture. In every case, verification that selected fixtures and layout meet the lighting criteria, must be made from published photometric data. See page 34 for a guide to understanding and using the data. Recommended Fixtures: The listed Fixtures, Optics, and Lamp Modes should be considered general guidelines. Selection of the proper fixture, number of fixtures and spacing should be based on photometric data. 80' 70' Fixture: LTV730 / LTV30 LTV750 / LTV50 LTV760 Optics: NF or or MR Lamp: 50MH 50HPS 50MH 50HPS 70MH 50HAL 75MH 50 HPS 75MH 75MH 00MH 75HAL 50MH 50HAL 75MH 70HPS 00HPS 50HPS Photo Reference: In addition to the diagrams above and the photometric charts on pages 35-46, it helps to see the actual lighting effect and beam width. In order to make meaningful comparisons, the same wall was used for all fixtures. The Spot () and Narrow Flood (NF) Accent lights are shown grazing a smooth wall surface to demonstrate the effectiveness of these fixtures for grazing light up columns and textured walls, which can be very dramatic. Trees, flags and overhangs reflect light back to the viewer just like the moldings in these photographs. The highlight on the molding indicates the light intensity that might occur on leaves and flags as their surface angles change in the wind. It also indicates the intensity of light on overhangs and ceilings, which reflect light more directly toward the viewer. Since the beam edge (dashed line) is of the centerline value, the footcandles at the edge would be of the number shown in the center. Beam Width: This included angle, sym metrical about the centerline, is constructed by drawing a dashed line through the candlepower curve at of the useful beam width that will produce acceptable uniformity of illumination. Application of Data: The final objective is to select the proper LTV luminaire, optical system and lamp that will produce the desired illumination. This can be derived from the beam width, footcandle and distance values shown on the right side of the photometric charts. It may be necessary to construct a scaled elevation of the object to be illuminated (example at right) to determine the ideal beam width. Safety and Maintenance. Fixtures must be grounded in accordance with national, state, and/or local codes. Failure to do so may result in serious personal injury.. Extreme caution should be taken when fixtures are used in paved areas. High temperature lenses can burn feet, hands or objects inadvertently placed on top of fixtures. If fixtures must be used in paved areas, locate them away from normal pedestrian traffic, and use the lowest wattage lamp possible. 3. It is recommended that all conduit entries be sealed with RTV silicone to maintain a clean, dry splice compartment. 4. To maintain light efficiency and prevent fixture overheating, lenses must be kept clean and free of dirt, dust, leaves and trash. 5. Lightvault fixtures are not approved for any submersible installations including fountains, ponds, reflecting ponds or swimming pools. KIM LIGHTING 47
