General information about the preparation General information about the preparation In order to facilitate the electrical connection of a tail lift, the preparation package for the tail lift cable harness can be ordered from the factory. More information on voltage guard levels is found in the Current consumption document. When using a dual battery system the equipment should not have a voltage guard. If there is a voltage guard, it should be deactivated or set to the lowest value. Vehicles manufactured as from September 2015 More information on the exact date is found under the heading Chassis conditions. For vehicles manufactured as from September 2015 the preparation package comprises the following (see connection options 1, 2 and 3): Connected switch S132 for tail lift activation Connected switch S152 for activation of load compartment lighting One fused signal for 2 rear facing position lamps at the top of the load compartment A warning appears in the instrument cluster when the tail lift is not in the parking position. Vehicles manufactured as from November 2007 For vehicles manufactured as from November 2007 the preparation package comprises the following (see connection options 1, 2 and 3): Connected switch S132 for tail lift activation Connected switch S152 for activation of load compartment lighting Two fused signals for side marker lamp Fused signal for work light For vehicles manufactured from 21 February 2008 onwards: A warning appears in the instrument cluster when the tail lift is not in the parking position. 22:10-145 Issue 1 en-gb 1 (22)

General information about the preparation Vehicles manufactured as from January 2005 For vehicles manufactured between January 2005 and October 2007 the preparation package comprises the following (see connection option 3): Connected switch S132 for tail lift activation Connected switch S152 for activation of load compartment lighting For vehicles manufactured up to and including January 2005 the preparation package comprises the following (see connection option 4): Connected switch S132 for tail lift activation Activation All switches are connected to +24 V. Vehicles manufactured as from September 2015 More information on the exact date is found under the heading Chassis conditions. Connect to the following: C158, which is a connector for the rear facing position lamps at the top of the load compartment and load compartment lighting. C159, which is a connector for the tail lift. C157, which is a 1-pin connector for the power supply which is fed from fuse F23. C152, which is a ground cable. Refer to the heading for information on pin numbering. Vehicles manufactured as from November 2007 For alternatives 1 and 2 the signals go via connector C494 and are then split between connector C486 for tail lift and connector C487 for lighting functions. For alternative 3 the signals go via connector C494 to connector C486. 22:10-145 Issue 1 en-gb 2 (22)

General information about the preparation For alternative 4, the signals go via connector C494 to connector C488. Refer to the heading for information on pin numbering. Indication Vehicles manufactured as from September 2015 More information on the exact date is found under the heading Chassis conditions. A warning appears in the instrument cluster when the tail lift is not in the parking position. The switches have built-in indicator lamps. The lamps only indicate that the switches have power and are closed, not that the tail lift or load compartment lighting are activated. Vehicles manufactured before September 2015 For vehicles manufactured from 21 February 2008 onwards a warning appears in the instrument cluster when the tail lift is not in the parking position. For vehicles manufactured between 23 October 2007 and 20 February 2008 a warning lamp comes on when the tail lift is not in the parking position. The switches have built-in indicator lamps. The lamps only indicate that the switches have power and are closed, not that the tail lift or load compartment lighting are activated. VDHH/VEHH To a certain degree connectors C486 and C159 are configured according to the VDHH/VEHH agreement 1. This applies to vehicles manufactured from 23 October 2007 onwards. Connect according to the instructions in options 1 and 2. 1. VEHH (Verband der in Europa tätigen Hubladebühnen Association of European tail lift manufacturers) is an association for manufacturers of lifting devices. 22:10-145 Issue 1 en-gb 3 (22)
