Writers Block Mach Schnell Editor, Chuck Schmeling We ve had requests to publish a membership list in the newsletter. We used to publish a membership list every year but due to potential privacy concerns, we haven t done one in a while. It has been proposed that the way to honor privacy issues would be to allow anyone who does not want to be on this list, to opt-out of the list or to request that certain information not be published. We will publish a basic membership list with names, mailing addresses and e-mail addresses in the January/February mailed edition of the newsletter. If you do not want your information on this list, please e-mail us at: cwi.pca@gmail.com and tell us what information you want to have removed. We will need this request my January 15, 2014. The data on the list comes from a monthly e-mail to the region from PCA national. It is the same information we use to keep our address labels and e- mail lists up to date. We will publish the amended list in the January/February newsletter and most likely publish an updated list each year. On a seasonal note, we hope to see you at the Holiday Party on January 19 at Blackhawk Country Club. We ve been there before and keep going back because the food is great and the venue is beautiful. CWI-PCA Fall Color Tour On Sunday October 20 it started out a bit cold and cloudy with a little rain, but that didn t stop nine Porsches and their owners from venturing out to the Spring Green area for wine tasting, touring and lunch. We started off with a wine tasting at Wollersheim Winery near Sauk City. From then we traveled along Hwy 60 to Spring Green where we dined at the Taliesin Visitor Center restaurant (previously The Spring Green). After the lunch we traveled the back roads to Highland and did another wine tasting at Spurgeon Winery in Highland. Thanks to Greg Mode and Trevor Passmore for arranging the tour and lunch. Trevor, the photographer in action. Macan SUV Unveiled Porsche introduced it s new small SUV, the Macan at the Tokyo Auto Show. There will be two models, the Macan Turbo with a 3.6 liter V6 twin turbo, 400 hp, and the Macan S with a 3.0 liter V6 twin turbo, 340 hp. More information is available on the Porsche web site: http://www.porsche.com/usa/ Looks like another winner from Porsche!

If anyone is looking for a holiday gift idea, this just might be a great one. In Porsche 911: 50 Years, bestselling author Randy Leffingwell celebrates a half-century of one of the world s premiere sports cars, focusing on the major themes that have defined Porsche's rear-engined wonder. He tells the whole story design and development, racing and competition, engineering and technology, style and culture. All the iconic 911 models are included: the original 901 prototype that set the standard; the legendary RS models that made the little Porsche a dominant force on the world s racetracks; the infamous Turbo, the car that kept the performance flame alight during the dark, dismal decade of the 1970s; the fabled 959, the model that redefined the term sports car ; the 993, last of the original air-cooled models; and the 996, 997, and 991, the liquid-cooled cars that brought the 911 into a new millennium. But beyond telling the story of the cars, this book also spotlights the people behind them: Ferdinand Butzi Porsche, the son of legendary Porsche founder Ferdinand Ferry Porsche, who co-designed the instantly recognizable 911 shape; Peter W. Schutz, the Porsche CEO who saved the 911 from extinction; and Dr. Helmuth Bott, the engineering genius behind many of the groundbreaking technologies that have defined the 911, including fuel injection, turbocharging, and all-wheel-drive. Leffingwell also tells the story of the 911 community the clubs and culture that surround the car. Together, all of these facets make Porsche 911: 50 Years the most essential book in any Porsche fan s library. List price is $50.00. It s a beautiful book with lots of great information.
