Enhancements to areas WEBFLEET 2.18 introduces significant improvements to the area functionality. It offers the possibility to work with geo-fences and corresponding notifications in all required facets. WEBFLEET 2.18 features new area types, new area notifications and an extended area scheduling functionality. Complex area shapes Using WEBFLEET 2.18 you can easily create areas in four different shapes to monitor the activities of your vehicles related to areas in all needed variations. In addition to circular and rectangular areas you can create geo-fences in the shape of polygons and corridors. Define polygons with up to 50 points to monitor complexly shaped areas such as construction sites to better manage the number of vehicles inside the area. Create corridors with a minimum width of 50m and up to 200 points to for example report vehicles deviating from a defined route. Select the type of area from the list and click into the map, to draw your new area. When drawing polygons, close the shape of your area by returning to the starting point. You can drag the points afterwards at any time to adjust the shape of the area. 2
Notifications for entering and leaving areas It is crucial for fleet managers and dispatchers to know if vehicles are moving inside or outside of a certain area. In some cases it vital to know whether a vehicle has entered or left an area. Therefore, WEBFLEET 2.18 adds one-time notifications on vehicles entering and/or leaving areas, to inform the office when a vehicle crosses a geo-fence. In the Area definition tab go to the section On position message of an object and select Enter/Leave from the list for Position state. Then select the notification types for the event of a vehicle entering and/or leaving an area. Improved scheduling of areas WEBFLEET claims to ease your daily work. So, when you have taken your time to set up areas, you would rather create all areas after the other and then tick this task as completed. WEBFLEET empowers you to do so by introducing an enriched scheduling of areas. Using WEBFLEET 2.18 you can define a period in which the individual areas shall be active to report the movements of your vehicles. This is an overall duration of validity that applies in addition to the individual week days and times you have defined for that area. Like that, your areas will be automatically activated and deactivated at the dates you have defined. You don t have to worry anymore. In the Area properties select the dates for the validity of your area. 3
New look & better overview of areas To make it is easier to keep an overview of your areas, you can select from a wide range of colours to assign to your areas to show in the map. Also, in the list of areas you can see the type and the shape of the individual areas, if they are active, if they will become active, etc. at a glance. When you select an area you can see all relevant details including the location in the map in the details panel on the right. 4
Areas in the map view To have an overview of where your areas are you can show all areas in the map. In the Map settings select Areas. You can filter your areas on the map by selecting a status and a colour. 5
