Double-Row Ball Beargs, 5000 Series C M MRC double-row ball beargs are manufactured two ma types: C-type conrad construction and M-type maximum capacity with fillg notches. Each row has a 0 contact angle. C-type Conrad construction, C-type, double-row ball beargs have contact angles that converge outside the bearg, thereby creasg resistance to misalignment. This type does not have fillg notches. These beargs are recoended f applications where sgle-row beargs are adequate, but radial loads are not so great as to suggest a fillg-notch bearg. They will take heavy radial loads, and axial loads equally either direction. The C-type design fully meets the requirements of American Petroleum Institute Specification. Both the ner and the outer rgs have closure grooves. These beargs are available with seals, shields, and snap-rgs. M-type This type has fillg notches on one side to permit assemblg the maximum number of balls to the bearg. Contact angles converge outside the bearg. All ner and outer rgs have closure grooves. These beargs may be equipped with seals, shields, snap-rgs; a combation of these. The M-type bearg has very heavy radial capacity. It also has thrust capacity one direction, with the ability to accoodate light thrust load the reversg direction. Part numbers on M-type double-row beargs are nmally located on either the side face the O.D. The side face markg is always on the side opposite the fillg notch and the O.D. markg is offset from the center away from the fillg notch. Therefe, double sealed shielded beargs with the fillg notch covered from view can be iented crectly. Ball Cages and Types The cage supplied with C-type and M-type beargs is one-piece, heat-treated steel f maximum retention. It is snapped to place after the full quota of balls has been troduced between the ner and outer rg. 5000 Series Beargs Suffix, Width Suary MRC Bearg Services MRC 5000 type double-row beargs are made three series 5200 Light, 500 Medium, and 5400 Heavy each with progressively larger sections. The old-style 5000 type double-rows are available the SB Conrad and maximum capacity configurations. The SB Conrad version has contact angles which diverge wardly, thereby creasg resistance to misalignment. The maximum capacity version has contact angles which converge wardly, givg it the capability of handlg moderate misalignment. It also has fillg notches on both sides, f the troduction of a maximum complement of balls. Our new-style double-row beargs are available the C-type Conrad construction and M type with fillg notches on one side only. Both types feature wardly divergg contact angles, which provide greater rigidity than found previous double-row fillg-notch type beargs. A unique manufacturg system utilizg coon parts is employed the manufacture of the newstyle beargs. Usg a mimum number of components, the system provides greater flexibility f producg either conrad maximum-capacity types as open beargs with a variety of closures. Twenty-two variations of a sgle bearg size can be made, f a total of 1185 double-row bearg variations to solve your application problems. This chart outles the suffixes and widths of MRC 5000 type beargs. The data on this chart do not represent actual availability of double-row products. These data are tended to be used as references f terchangg. New style double-rows appear next to their old-style counterparts that are the same width. Fillg Notch Location on 5000-MFF and 5000-MZZ Series MRC Bearg Services Sce the fillg notch row is not visible on 5000MFF and 5000MZZ beargs, it is necessary to identify which row has the notch those cases where the bearg subject to axial load. Axial load should be carried on the non-fillg notch row. A moderate reversg axial load is permissible on the fillg notch row. A typical application of a 5000MFF 5000MZZ bearg is shown above which it is subjected to an axial load an upward direction. The bearg should be mounted with the fillg notch up so that the axial load is taken by the bottom, non-fillg notch row. The fillg notch is iented relation to the bearg identification markg on the bearg which will be found one of the followg locations: Face of the outer rg Face of the ner rg OD surface of the outer rg Face of the closure In each case the markg will occur on the side of the bearg opposite the fillg notch as illustrated above. When the O.D. surface markg is right side up the fillg notch is the uppermost row and it is located closest to the non-fillg notch row.

MRC Extra-Wide 5000 Series Double-Row Ball Bearg Retrofit Kit Double-row ball beargs with non-standard extra wide width are currently available as a retrofit kit. These replacement units consist of a standard width doublerow ball bearg and two specially designed spacers packaged together a sgle carton. Spacers The Extra-Width Double-Row Ball Bearg Retrofit Kit is simple to use. When used with beargs without snap rgs, place both spacers on the same side, as shown Figure 1. With snap rg beargs, the ner rg spacer must be stalled on the side opposite the snap rg, as shown Figure 2. The outer spacer is not needed applications where the bearg s snap rg controls the axial location of the outer rg the housg. The spacers accoodate slight variations the shaft and housg seat width. The ner rg and spacer can be secured to the shaft with a retag rg threaded locknut. If a locknut is used, the amount of clampg fce can be regulated to make slight adjustments the shaft s axial location. The spacer rgs yield slightly when an axial clampg fce is applied. The spacer rgs also exert a reaction fce, which helps mata the itial clampg fce and helps prevent the ner rg from becomg loose on the shaft. The same circumstances apply to the outer rg spacers when an end cap is used to clamp the bearg s outer rg agast a housg shoulder. Because the spacer rgs are designed to yield slightly when axial clampg fces are applied, the spacer rgs should always be replaced with new spacer rgs anytime the bearg is removed, replaced restalled. Materials f Rgs, Balls and Spacers High-carbon chromium vacuum-processed steel SAE 520 is used f all balls and rgs. Mached and roll fmed spacer rgs are fabricated from 18 carbon steel and 04 staless steel. Mountg Instructions Figure 1 Figure 2 Without Snap Rg 1. Install ner and outer rg spacers onto the shaft and to the housg be respectively. 2. Install bearg accdance with nmal mountg structions.. If any lockg devices such as snap rgs locknuts are nmally used to secure the bearg on the shaft the housg be sure they are properly stalled. 4. These ner and outer rg spacers are adjusted to proper width pri to stallation. Durg bearg stallation their width may be slightly altered to accoodate variations shaft and housg shoulder distances. As a consequence, when a new extra width retrofit bearg kit is stalled the new spacer rgs supplied with the kit should always be used and the old spacers discarded. With Snap Rg 1. Install the ner rg spacer onto the shaft. The outer rg spacer is not used with a snap rg bearg and may be discarded. 2. Install bearg accdance with nmal mountg structions.. If any lockg devices such as snap rgs, locknuts end caps are nmally used to secure the bearg on the shaft the housg be sure they are properly stalled.
