FM DE-THATCHER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Install tractor specific mountings according to instructions provided with kit. Do not tighten hardware for mounts, leave them loose. 2. Slip each crosstube into caster arm mounts and pin in place with ¾ pin and hairclip provided. FIG. 1 3. Orient half brackets around crosstubes as illustrated and bolt together two halves using eight 5/16 x 1 bolts and whizlock nuts. Once again, do not tighten. Only snug bolts at this time. FIG. 2 4. Square up the thatcher to the first crossmember of the footpan on tractor. Do not try and use the casters to square as most of the commercial midmount mowers have two different length caster arms. Once assembly is squared, tighten hardware to the crosstube mounts, but leave the bolts in the clamp halves loose. FIG. 3 5. Remove thatcher from its box and attach main pivot frame to it using four 3/8 x 3/4 HHC, flat washers and whizlock nuts provided. FIG. 4 6. Assemble front caster bracket. Attach caster bracket to pivot frame. FIG. 5 7. Attach thatcher to tractor mount by slipping arms of main pivot frame around the receiver tubes on half bracket and secure with 1 x 4 clevis pins and #5 hairpin cotter. FIG. 6 & 7. Slip lower cylinder mount over main pivot frame that is bolted to the thatcher frame. Align holes in arms of main pivot with holes in arms of lower cylinder mount and secure with 3/8 x 1 bolts and whizlock nuts. Tighten these bolts also. FIG. 8 8. Center thatcher frame on drive-tires of mower. The entire assembly should still be able to slip on the crosstubes because clamp halves are not tightened yet. 9. Attach transport bracket (O) to tab on top half bracket with ½ x 1 HHC and lock nut provided. Pin the receiver tube bracket and extension bracket to the cylinder mount and top half bracket as illustrated FIG. 9 10. Slide the Kick Tube (J) into the receiver on receiver tube bracket (K). Adjust Kick Tube (J) to the most comfortable operating position and secure with 5/16 x ¾ square head set screw provided. 11. Test operation of unit. OPERATION OF FM DE-THATCHER. Ground speed of 2-3 MPH recommended. Flip thatcher into transport position to trailer. To flip thatcher into transport position, remove the cylinder mount on the thatcher side. Rotate thatcher over and pin into transport position with the ½ x 2 clevis pin just removed from cylinder mount through the transport bracket. To bring back to operating position, remove the ½ x 2 clevis pin securing the thatcher in the transport position and rotate the unit back around to the operating position. Pin through the cylinder mount and extension bracket.
