Adapted length of rear overhang Adapted length of rear overhang The rear overhang can be ordered from the factory in length increments of 10 mm between the limit values 780 mm and 5,200 mm (see illustration). The permitted length of the rear overhang is governed by factors such as the wheel configuration and type of suspension. Contact your Scania dealer for details of the dimensions that can be ordered for the relevant vehicle. For vehicles with an adapted rear overhang, the end of the frame member is always vertical, i.e. perpendicular to the frame. s for some commonly occurring dimensions JA (BEP-L020) 2,100 mm 1537GL 2,110 mm 1537GM 2,120 mm 1537GN 2,130 mm 1537GP...... Draw beam design Draw beam design Hole layouts for many combinations Scania draw beams have a hole layout which makes it possible to fit them with body adaptation brackets and rear underrun protection in six different combinations. No additional holes need be drilled in the frame members. Scania draw beams DB75V and DB35V are certified in accordance with 94/20/EC. For further information about draw beams and how to position them longitudinally see the instructions for components as well as the instructions for body adaptation brackets and hole layouts. 313 914 313 915 313 916 DB 75V DB 35V Silpa 13:20-01 Issue 2 en-gb 2 (19)

Draw beam design Choosing a draw beam The vehicle can be ordered with or without a draw beam. When the draw beam has been selected, it is supplied fully fitted, but with adaptations to facilitate the transport of the chassis. s for different types of draw beams are provided later in the document. Select a draw beam taking into account the type of trailer and the goods to be transported. The values D, D c, S and V for the draw beams must exceed the calculated values for the planned vehicle combination. Tow beam Tow beam General Tow beams may be used for temporary towing, extraction and shunting of vehicles and trailers. The tow beam cannot be combined with end beams or draw beams. Vehicles with a maximum gross vehicle weight of 40 tonnes (in line with 77/389/ EEC) can be towed and shunted using the tow beam. The tow beam tow pin has a diameter of 35 mm, which means that a suitable towing bar should have a 40 mm eye (DIN 74054) or 50 mm eye (DIN 74053). 107 313 931 Fitting tow beams 1. Fit the tow beam in the lower section of the frame web. Make sure that the distance from the centre of the tow pin to the rear edge of the frame members is 107 mm. 2. Tighten the M16 bolts with associated nuts to 250 Nm. 3. Check and retighten the bolted joints. Rear underrun protection Rear underrun protection General The rear underrun protection is available in three different profile sections depending on its area of use. They are supplied fitted, but with adaptations to facilitate the transport of the chassis. Fixed underrun protection with a U-profile The aluminium U-profile allows the tail lamps and the registration plate to be fitted so that they are well protected by the U-profile. The tail lamps can be ordered fitted in the underrun protection from the factory. Fixed underrun protection with a square profile The aluminium square profile provides better ground clearance for an underslung draw beam. This is because the square profile has a lower height than the U-profile and the low-mounted trailer coupling limits the mounting height of the profile. Fixed underrun protection with a round profile The steel round profile is, for example, recommended for tipper vehicles so that the vehicle is not as likely to carry tipped gravel out onto the road. End beam End beam Scania recommends that an end beam is fitted to vehicles not equipped with a draw beam, tow beam or other type of crossmember at the rear edge of the frame. Note: The end beam must not be used as a draw beam. Fit the end beam next to the rear edge of the frame member. An end beam cannot be combined with a centrally mounted draw beam or tow beam, since the stabilising characteristics of the end beam would be taken over by the draw beam or tow beam. On vehicles with a semi-underslung or fully underslung draw beam the customer can choose to have the vehicle supplied with or without end beam (variant codes below). If the vehicle is to be equipped with an end beam, fit it as follows: 313 935 On vehicles with a semi-underslung draw beam the end beam is fitted 80 mm in front of the draw beam's first fixing hole. On vehicles with a fully underslung draw beam the end beam is fitted 80 mm in front of the draw beam's first fixing hole. However, on the following vehicles the end beam is fitted 100 mm behind the draw beam's first fixing hole: Rear leaf spring suspension, configuration 6x2Z, JE dimension less than 2,420 mm. Rear leaf spring suspension, configurations 6x4Z and 8x4Z with bogie type BT201 1, JE dimension less than 2,420. Rear leaf spring suspension, configurations 6x4Z and 8x4Z with bogie type BT300 2, JE dimension less than 2,510. This exception does not apply to 8x4Z with axle distance 4,100 mm. 1. Bogie with leaf spring suspension and driven on both axles, intended for a bogie load of 26-32 tonnes 13:20-01 Issue 2 en-gb 18 (19)

End beam Note: If an end beam is not selected on vehicles with a semi or fully underslung draw beam, a beam with the relevant characteristics such as a Scania end beam, or a more rigid end beam, must be fitted at the rear edge of the frame. Otherwise the draw beam certificate will not be valid. s End beam, option With end beam Without end beam 1557C 1557Z 13:20-01 Issue 2 en-gb 19 (19)
