Prismatic glass reflectors minimize brightness from inner surface. Glass reflectors will not pit or corrode in normal industrial use. Endural borosilicate glass reflectors resist thermal shock and are designed to withstand the heat generated by efficient HID lamps. 1 2 3 4 5 1 Zinc plated steel yoke: Quickly secures reflector to housing for long life and easy installation. 2 Open top for self-cleaning: Reduces need for constant maintenance. 3 Non-adjustable easily installed dual action suspension lugs: Properly positions and locks reflector in place for designed photometrics. 4 Open prismatic borosilicate glass reflector: Low electro-static charge minimizes dirt build-up. 5 Zinc plated steel rods and rings: Supports and protects glass reflector. Highly efficient luminaires The overall efficient performance of Prismalume luminaires can result in fewer fixtures providing the designed illumination levels. Fewer fixtures reduce installation and operating costs. Unlike aluminum or plastic reflectors, borosilicate glass reflectors are not subject to permanent deterioration caused by industrial environments and do not present the additional safety concerns of plastic reflectors. 4
Rugged ballast assembly Die cast aluminum housing combines corrosion resistance with mechanical strength for the rugged industrial environment. Mounting plate spins onto.75 NPT conduit and provides secure attachment for the slide on housing while the wireway cover encloses the wiring chamber and secures housing to the conduit. Seven stage pretreating of the housing is followed by a sprayed on polyester powder paint, cured and baked on at 218 C. This exceeds ASTM standard practice for hardness, humidity, impact and salt spray resistance to prevent cross hatch creep, fading, cracking, and other weather related deterioration. Pre-wired, porcelain enclosed socket with corrosion resistant, nickel plated lamp grip screw shell, is attached to the housing to provide specified lighting distribution from a choice of glass reflectors. High power factor (over 90%) copper wound ballast is tested and matched with capacitors to provide full lamp wattage at lower energy consumption. Ballast and capacitor are heat sunk for cool operation and long life. Holophane ballasts ensure rated lamp output (ballast factor = 1.0) Easy attachment of reflector to housing is provided by locking lugs which prevent accidental dislodging of the reflector. Optional quick disconnect or throughway wiring chamber quickly spins onto.75 NPT conduit or can be ceiling mounted. Integral hinge supports for hands-free wiring. UL/CUL listed. Throughway box can carry up to five #10 wires with 24 amps per wire. 400-1000W ballast shown UL listed 1598 55 C damp location as standard, with optional 65 C listing available. PRISMALUME Complete luminaire shall be Holophane catalog number. The luminaire shall consist of two sub-assemblies: ballast assembly containing the electrical components, mounting hardware and reflector attachment lugs; and optical reflector. It shall have passed.5g accelerated fatigue vibration test, high ambient temperature test of, and provide for lamp starting in -2F (MH/MV), -4F (HPS) ambients. The complete luminaire shall be UL listed to US and Canadian safety standards, Inc. as suitable for use in damp location ambients of up to 55 C as standard, 65 C optional. The die cast aluminum ballast housing shall be protected against corrosion by a seven stage pretreatment process followed by a sprayed on white polyester powder paint, cured and baked on at 218 C; which exceeds ASTM standard practice for hardness, humidity, impact and salt spray resistance to prevent cross hatch creep, fading, cracking, and other corrosion related deterioration. The pre-wired, porcelain enclosed lamp holder with corrosion resistant, nickel plated lamp grip screw shell, shall be factory set for optimum distribution. The zinc plated steel, reflector attachment yoke shall have swingover locking lugs and provision for full ventilation and optional safety chain. No tools shall be required to attach or detach the reflector from the housing while installed. Optional Mounting Methods (Choose One) (See pg. 15 for C/UL/US temperature listings) P/PD - Pendant The separable.75 NPT threaded conduit mounting plate with integral set screw shall provide quick install unidirectional luminaire slide on attachment. Housing shall be balanced and suitable for support from hooks or loops without field adjustment. Wireway cover shall enclose the fast splice wiring chamber which is suitable for 9 supply wire. N/ND - Non-Disconnect Pendant and Throughway Wiring The die cast aluminum pendant and/or throughway integral wiring box shall contain provisions for both.75 NPT conduit and direct ceiling mounting. It shall contain an integral hinge which connects with the die cast aluminum pin on the housing to support the luminaire while electrical splices are made. It shall have the same corrosion resistant finish as the housing. It shall have 2 cast in side knockouts, 4 ceiling mount drill points,.75 NPT conduit threaded top opening, and be C/UL/US certified for up to five #10 AWG conductors for through wiring. The housing shall swing up and connect to the ND box by latching the captive J bolt and wing nut without use of tools. Q/QD - Quick-Disconnect Pendant and Throughway Wiring The die cast aluminum pendant and/or throughway quick disconnect wiring box shall contain provisions for both.75 NPT conduit and direct ceiling mounting. It shall contain an integral hinge which connects with the die cast aluminum or stainless steel hinge pin on the housing to allow the luminaire to hang free with electrical disconnect. It shall have the same corrosion resistant finish as the housing. It shall have 2 cast in side knockouts, 4 ceiling mount drill points,.75 NPT conduit threaded top opening, and be capable of carrying up to five #10 AWG conductors for through wiring. The housing shall swing up and connect to the QD box by latching the captive J bolt and wing nut without use of tools. A dead front female receptacle shall be mounted inside the QD box which will make an electrical connection with the pre-wired male plug on the housing. The receptacle shall be C/UL/US for connection to lighting branch circuits which can then be energized before the housing is attached. The grounding connection shall be the first to make contact and the last to disconnect. It shall be C/UL/US listed per UL-1059 (Panel Board Accessory) and UL-98 (Enclosed and Dead Front Switches) permitting the fixture to be disconnected while under load. PF - Mounting Hooks and Loops Mounting hooks and loops shall be lubricating malleable cast iron and protected against corrosion with zinc plated yellow chromate finish. Optical Assembly Glass reflector shall be Endural prismatic borosilicate glass with a minimum wall thickness of 3mm (.13"). Reflector shall be supported by three 5mm (.19 ) min. dia. steel rods bolted to a bottom retaining ring made of concentric rings of 6mm (.22 ) min. dia. steel rod. Standby, Emergency and HALT Options UL 1598 listed standby light systems EM: When an HID lamp is extinguished due to a momentary power interruption, and power is immediately restored, an internal relay energizes a tungsten halogen lamp (QCL/DC) until the HID lamp restrikes, at which time the tungsten halogen lamp switches off. TD: When power is supplied or restored to the fixture, an internal relay energizes a tungsten/halogen lamp. The tungsten/halogen lamp remains energized for a period during and following the HID lamp restrike as the HID lamp energizes. Following the delay period the tungsten/halogen lamp turns off prior to the HID lamp reaching full luminance. EM, TD, ER UL 924 listed emergency fixture ER: When an HID lamp is extinguished due to a power failure, 120V auxiliary power may be supplied directly to a tungsten halogen lamp. PRISMALUME AERS luminaire The standard Holophane luminaire is designed with a modified ballast and relay. The modified ballast is designed to operate the lamp at two input wattages: HPS, normal input like a standard luminaire, and a reduced input either 35% or 50% of full input; and metal halide, normal input and a reduced input of 50%. The relay is wired to an occupancy sensor (or some type of contact closure) through a control module allowing the luminaire to switch between the two input wattages. The relay signals the ballast which input wattage to supply the lamp at any time. Prismalume Glass Aluminum Reflector This installation photo demonstrates the effect of Holophane Prismalume luminaires with prismatic glass reflectors in a manufacturing environment. Prismalume luminaires illuminate the left half of this production facility. The right half of the photo illustrates the inadequate lighting from aluminum reflector units originally used in this application. Prismalume s prismatic glass optics deliver improved horizontal and vertical illumination. Additionally, the uplight component from the Prismalume luminaires illuminates the ceiling space, eliminating the cavern effect.
