Remove the wheel. the clamp and brake hose from the bracket the ABS cable from the bracket the antiroll bar link from the spring strut the two screws for the stub axle the stub axle from the spring strut the three nuts. Remove the spring strut. Assembling the special tool Secure tool 951 2911 in a vice. Install both the spring holders 951 2914. Remove the catch. Raise the spring holders. Reinstall the catch. If necessary, remove the other holders first. Connect tool 951 2564 or 999 5576 to connecting hose 951 2915. Disassembling the spring strut Hook the hooks on the tool over as many spring spirals as possible Compress the spring by pumping the tool, always ensuring that the spring is correctly positioned in the catches Compress the spring until it is released. Hint: Note the position of the components. This will make installation easier. Replace as necessary. Replacing the spring Remove the spring Remove the spring. Note the location Install the new spring with as many turns as possible between the spring holders Tension the spring so that the shock absorber mounting can be installed again. Note! The colour code on the spring must be downwards towards the spring strut. Assembling the spring strut Caution! If the car is a Sport or Dynamic version, the spring plates are installed at an angle of 20º. To identify the spring type, see Identifying the chassis type. To assemble the spring strut for Sport or Dynamic models, see Spring strut front (Sport/Dynamic), assembling. Lubricate the stop using petroleum jelly. Install the stop in the dust boot. Install the upper spring seat so that the holes in both the spring seats line up. Carefully release the spring and check that is correctly positioned in the stop at the spring seats. Use special tool 999 5500 and 999 5758. Tighten the nut. Tighten to 65 Nm. Coat the bearing in grease. Install dust cover. Remove the spring strut from the special tool. Spring and shock absorber rear, replacing Special tools: 951 2564, 951 2834, 951 2911, 951 2912, 951 2915, 999 5576 Installing the spring strut Install the spring strut. Tighten the three nuts by hand. Install the two screws for the stub axle. Tighten to 90 Nm. the link for the antiroll bar. Tighten to 45 Nm the brake hose and the ABS cable in the bracket the wheel. Support the lower control arm if necessary the screw for the shock absorber. Remove the shock absorber. Assembling the special tool Secure tool 951 2911 in a vice. Install both the spring holders 951 2912. Remove the catch. Raise the spring holders. Reinstall the catch. If necessary, remove the other holders first. Connect tool 951 2564 or 999 5576 to connecting hose 951 2915. Compressing the spring

Note the location Install the hooks on the tool over the 7 spirals on the new spring (6 spirals for Nivomat) Tension the spring so that the shock absorber mounting can be installed again. Note! The colour code on the spring must be downwards towards the spring strut. Assembling the shock absorber and spring Pull the shock absorber piston out as far as possible. the rubber stop and dust boot the shock absorber through the spring the upper spring cover. Ensure that it is parallel (maximum 3 deviation) to the shock absorber mounting.
"VCC128825 EN 20090329" 6(7) Check that the ends of the spring are completely inside the spring caps. Install the ring and a new nut. Tighten to 30 Nm (Nivomat shock absorbers: 25 Nm. Checking the shock absorber Slowly let the spring expand. Check that all components are then in the correct position. Remove the shock absorber. Check that the rubber ring (A) is in position on the upper spring cover. Caution! Incorrect installation of the rubber ring (A) may result in leakage. Installing the upper mounting for the shock absorber the shock absorber in the car. Ensure that the end of the lower spiral is pointing backwards the upper shock absorber nuts. Use new nuts. Tighten to 50 Nm the protective cap the insulation the side panel. Check that the end of the lowest spiral is pointing backwards. Install the screw in the lower control arm. Press the entire mounting downwards. Install the screw in the shock absorber. Tighten the nuts (A) and (B). Use new nuts.
"VCC128825 EN 20090329" 7(7) Installing wheels Check that the brake disc and wheel rim mating surfaces are clean. Lubricate the hub centre guide using installation paste (P/N 1161397). Install the wheel. Tighten the nuts lightly. Then tighten crosswise. Tighten to 110 Nm. If an impact spanner is used, torque socket 951 2834 must be used. Post tighten the nuts by hand. Caution! The correct torques and crosswise tightening are essential to avoid stresses in the brake disc. Install the hub cap. Tightening the lower control arm Remove the support and bounce the car a few times. Secure the antiroll bar. Tighten: the screw C. Tighten to 25 Nm the screw B on the trailing arm. Tighten to 90 Nm the screw A on the shock absorber. Tighten to90 Nm.
