Tipping waste into truck Striking/entanglement in overhead electricity and telecommunication leading to fire, electric shock and loss of service Dust Check for overhead power lines and other obstacles Implement emergency response procedures if entangled and unable to safely break contact. Drivers to remain in cabin until power isolated unless unsafe to do so such as a fire. Hazardous substances in bins resulting in fire, release of toxic gases, vapours and fumes Soft tissue injuries to shoulder, neck and back from swivelling in seat to view bins and grabs Bin falling from grab - personal injury to passersby and property damage Spilled waste bins knocked over during collection Muscular strains, slips and trips when driver exiting truck to reposition bins Training provided to drivers on safe exit techniques. Check in top of bin before tipping. Do not tip if loose dusty material present Where source can be identified provide educational material for citizen awareness dust to be securely bagged before being placed in bins Notices placed on offending bins Check in top of bin prior to tipping.
