Seaway Cruisers Classic Car Club February 2015 News letter My Classic Vehicle By John Amell I own a 1966 Mustang. I have owned it since 2005. How I got it was my son purchased it first while in school in North Carolina. I bought it from him. What is noteworthy about it is 289, automatic. My First Vehicle By Ronald Finley What was your first vehicle? Very first, 1969 Chevy van Our January meeting was the Mini Car Show How did you get it? Belonged to my parents (converted it to a customized van) was fun. Hard Luck Story By Harry Wells You could possibly call it hard luck if you bought a 1953 Chevy a month ago and you and your buddies pulled into the school parking lot one night at PHCS to fix the gas peddle that broke. We had been partying a little hard, which you could get away with back then. We were in no shape to fix the car so we caught a ride home and came back the next morning. Someone had dropped a cigarette in the back seat you guessed it total loss!! Wish List An illustration of the original Matchbox packaging What vehicle(s) are on your wish list and why? Robert Cline T-Bucket with functional doors old school appeal David Fountain 63 Corvette split window just something about it. My Classic Vehicle By Herb Bullock I own a 1938 Chevy Master Coupe. I have owned it since 1990. How I got it was by purchase, bucket of rust. Restored in my garage, painted there also. What is noteworthy about it is it took 2nd place at Potsdam car show. 1

Submission Deadline Feb. 27, 2015 for March From the President Magazine and Book Exchange Seaway Cruisers Classic Car Club, Inc. ~ Established 1986 ~ PO Box 109 Heuvelton, NY 13654 seawaycruisers@yahoo.com www.seawaycruisers.com President: (315) 347-3414 Vice President: Linda Brown (315) 375-6788 OFFICERS Secretary: Brandon Baldwin (315) 265-2717 The Cruisers February 15 th meeting will be on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge. Do you have piles of car magazines and books? I know I do, sometimes I throw them away (recycle) but sometimes they end up in a pile or box (packrat). I have some I m going to keep with Sunbeam articles. For the February meeting let s bring those old magazines and books in for sale or trade. I think I read a little more in the winter and sometimes a short car magazine article is good just before bed. Over the 40+ years I ve owned my old Sunbeams, I ve collected some owner s manuals, dealer paperwork and other things that I d like to frame and display with the car at car shows. At the meeting I ll show a few displays I m working on. I may make color copies of some of the more rare things that I wouldn t want to get rained on at a car show. See you at the meeting, Treasurer: Glory Martel (315) 393-4436 DIRECTORS John Amell (315) 344-7025 Dean Marshall (315) 344-6422 Pat Matthews (315) 393-3810 Mike Hirsch (315) 344-6339 Scott Sutherland (315) 386-3455 Email List Linda Hurteau (315) 393-2519 thequeensdawgs@yahoo.com Question About the Valve Cover Races All, The SUNY Canton students have a chance to participate with us on the Valve Cover Racing, so it would have to be Thursday, March 19th at 7 p.m. I have a student that works at a junkyard and has access to a bunch of valve covers. Will this date work for the club? Brandon Baldwin Curriculum Coordinator SUNY Canton Automotive 315-379-3866 Newsletter, Website & Membership Sandy Bigelow (315) 347-3945 news.seawaycruisers@gmail.com seawaycruisers@yahoo.com Thursday, March 19th at 7:00 PM is good for me. The Club will have pizza & soda for members and students. First, second and third place trophies. Let us know if the date is good for Cruisers. 2

Meeting Notes By Sandy Bigelow Classified Ad Brandon was not present at our January 18, 2015, meeting so in lieu of his official Minutes of the Meeting I will share my meeting notes. John brought a couple copies of the Articles and By-Laws. He asked that they be put on the website so members can check them over and let him know if anyone sees anything they suggest be changed or updated. The 12 members present voted to join CNY Association again this year. We received an email from the Eastern Ontario Car Club Association, there is no cost, they just ask that we let them know when our car show is so it can be included in their list they distribute. John will work with Sandy on sending that info to them via email. John s Sunbeam is 50 years old this year and he asked members if it would be okay to use that for our dash plaques this year. John mentioned that he spoke with Brandon s class and they showed interest in the valve cover racing. We will hold the valve cover races again in March at Brandon s classroom, same rules as last year. IDEAS WANTED for the car show, please share your thoughts and suggestions. One suggestion was that everyone who enters a car get a chance at winning a prize like a set of tires. We need someone to step up and help with the flea market. John will call Sally Hartman about doing the flyer. We are adding 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place trophies for the bicycle class this year. Upcoming meetings will be on the third Sunday, that being February 16. The March meeting will be a pizza party and valve cover races in Canton. April and May we will to figure something out yet. The first weekend in June is the steam engine show. WANTED: 350 Chevy motor carberated & tranny. Call Rusty 315-323-5979. Building a '92 Camaro Stock Car TALK IT UP!! 55th Annual Seaway Festival Car Show And Flea Market Sunday July 26, 2015 VENDORS WANTED Share the news of this great opportunity with those you know or meet who sell their crafts, collectibles, etc. We will pay Madrid Steam Engine Museum dues again for 2015. There was some discussion about possible destinations which included the ones in the January newsletter. Additional suggestions included going to a Friday night cruise in at Gal s Place then to the Alex Bay Drive-In. Let John know if you have other suggestions. Studebaker Club is going to Maine. John spoke of the Owl s Head Museum and highly recommends it if you are going to Maine. Members did a show and tell of the mini cars they brought for the show. A book and magazine exchange was suggested for the next meeting. Treasurer s Report was given by Glory Martel. One hundred nineteen (119) January newsletters were mailed; that included 17 complimentary. February newsletter will be mailed based on the 2015 membership list. Sandy will place a courtesy call to 2014 members who have not paid dues for 2015 yet. ENTRANTS WANTED Cars Trucks Motorcycles Pedal Cars Bicycles 3
