ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS A. REMOVAL 1. Ensure that all switches are in the OFF position. Mixture control is pulled out to the maximum lean position and the magneto/ignition switch is in the OFF position. WARNING: WARNING: EXERCISE CARE WHEN WORKING WITH THE PROPELLER. ALWAYS TREAT THE PROPELLER AS IF THE IGNITION SWITCH WERE ON. DO NOT STAND, NOR ALLOW ANYONE ELSE TO STAND, WITHIN THE ARC OF THE PROPELLER. ENSURE THE MAGNETO SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION BEFORE TURNING THE PROPELLER. ENSURE MAGNETO IS GROUNDED BEFORE TURNING PROPELLER. 2. Remove cowling as required to gain access to the propeller. 3. Refer to the airplane service manual as required, remove existing propeller mounting nuts and discard, retain propeller spinner, bulkhead assembly and attaching hardware. 4. Pull propeller assembly forward to remove. Remove and discard propeller. NOTE: As the propeller is separated from the engine crankshaft flange, oil will drain from the propeller and crankshaft cavities. Place a drain pan or similar device under the engine/propeller to catch engine oil that drains from the propeller/crankshaft cavities. 5. Identify the propeller governor model number. The following propeller governors are approved for use with the McCauley 2A34C203/90DCA-2 propeller; Woodward model 4M12-V, 210065, 210105, 210345, or A210452 or Garwin 34-828-01 or McCauley C290D2/T1 or C290D3T1 If the propeller governor is not an approved governor for use with the McCauley 2A34C203/90DCA-2 propeller and airplane, remove and replace the propeller governor with one that is. Refer to the airplane service manual for propeller governor removal and installation procedures. 6. Identify the propeller spinner. The following Cessna propeller spinners are approved for use with the McCauley 2A34C203/90DCA-2 propeller: a. Part number 0752004-2 Dome - Spinner is approved for use with the following airplanes: MODEL SERIES SERIAL NUMBERS 180 30000 thru 32999 180 50001 thru 50911 180 18050912 thru 18051774 180 604, 614, 624 NOTE: Spinners used with Hartzell propellers are not approved for use with the McCauley 2A34C203/90DCA-2 propeller. (1) If a part number 0752004-2 Dome - Spinner was not installed, discard the existing spinner and bulkhead assembly. Refer to the Material Information section of this service kit, procure the appropriate propeller spinner, bulkhead assembly and attaching hardware. Page 4
b. Part number 0752042-5 Spinner Assembly is approved for use with the following airplanes: MODEL SERIES SERIAL NUMBERS 180 18051775 thru 18052284 180 645 NOTE: Spinners used with Hartzell propellers are not approved for use with the McCauley 2A34C203/90DCA-2 propeller. (1) If a part number 0752042-5 Spinner Assembly was not installed, discard the existing spinner and bulkhead assembly. Refer to the Material Information section of this service kit, procure the appropriate propeller spinner, bulkhead assembly and attaching hardware. B. INSTALLATION NOTE: Always check the latest applicable McCauley Service Manual, Service Bulletins, Service Letters and instruction placards for the latest recommended procedures for the installation and maintenance of the propeller. 1. Place propeller bulkhead over the crankshaft flange and install attaching lugs. 2. Inspect and remove any nicks, burrs, or sharp edges from the crankshaft. Clean the propeller and crankshaft cavities and mating surfaces. 3. Lightly lubricate the new A-1633-3 O-Ring (furnished with P/N P2033909-57 propeller assembly) and the crankshaft pilot with a film of clean engine crankcase oil. 4. Install the O-Ring in the propeller hub groove. 5. Check that the two dowel pins are in place in the aft side of the propeller hub. Align mounting holes and slide propeller carefully over the crankshaft pilot and the propeller studs through the crankshaft flange and propeller spinner attaching lugs. NOTE: When installing the propeller spinner bulkhead, position the bulkhead so that the propeller blades will emerge from the spinner with ample clearance. 6. Liberally apply A-1637-16 (furnished with P/N P2033909-57 propeller assembly) lubricant to threads of propeller studs and A-1639-2 nuts (furnished with P/N P2033909-57 propeller assembly), also apply lubricant to the contacting surface of the nuts. 7. Install new A-1639-2 nuts (furnished with P/N P2033909-57 propeller assembly), tighten nuts evenly, torque nuts 45 to 50 FT. - LB.. 8. For airplane serials 18051775 thru 18052284 and 645, position spacers and spinner support on front of propeller cylinder. Install spacers as required to cause a snug fit between the spinner and the spinner bulkhead. 9. Install spinner dome and attaching hardware. 10. Reinstall those items removed in Step A.2. 11. Refer to the Owners Manual as required and perform the following: a. Start engine. b. Allow oil pressure and temperature to stabilize, monitor oil temperature to prevent overheating the engine. Page 5
c. Perform an engine ground run-up, cycle propeller a minimum of three times, ensure the propeller operates smoothly. (1) If the propeller governor was replaced, refer to the airplane service manual and perform a high RPM stop adjustment as required. d. Shut engine down. 12. Inspect propeller for security and signs of oil leakage. 13. Make appropriate airplane weight and balance information changes and applicable logbook entries stating that this service kit has been installed, include the installed propeller model and serial number with logbook entry.
