Adapting power to today s market needs. EnerSys launched their range of 12 volt Hawker XFC TM bloc batteries into the Motive Power market in 2007. The success of the Thin Plate Pure Lead technology has lead to the development of a 2 volt cell range of Hawker XFC batteries to satisfy a wide range of material handling equipment requirements. With increased energy density and fast charge capability these maintenance free batteries can be used at any time and recharged whenever it is possible. Advanced communication with Hawker HF chargers, Life IQ TM and LifeSpeed IQ TM, ensures long high performance and energy cost savings. Unique construction The Hawker XFC 2 volt cells are constructed using pure lead plates, that are much thinner than lead calcium grids. Pure lead grain structure makes the grid far more resis tant to corrosion. Positive and negative plates are low impedance enabling high current flow in both discharge and rechar ge modes. The electrolyte is ab sorbed in a superior quality microporous glass mat separator with high absorption and stability designed to enhance cyclic capability. Cell boxes are highly resistant to shock and vibration. Fast charge Unlike conventional lead/acid batteries where the state of discharge reaches a specified level and then requires recharging for 8-12 hours, Hawker XFC is totally flexible giving increased autonomy to the user. The specific charging profile allows a rapid recharge in less than 4 hours from 60% DOD and opportunity charging as often as needed, without damaging Hawker XFC batteries. These specialized charging capabilities are standard features in the Hawker HF chargers: Life IQ and LifeSpeed IQ. The other integral part of the Hawker XFC system is the Wi-IQ 2 monitoring device which precisely manages the charging profile to suit the state of charge and operating conditions of the battery as well as storing complete data of the battery s service life. Optimised power solutions for low-duty pallet trucks applications

All round power: Hawker XFC / Hawker XFC-Li Energy solutions for light duty applications with multiple cycles per day has been the focal point of research for our evolving advanced technologies. Back of store and back of lorry in the retail sector and other low or medium duty general purpose applications are niches where maintenance free solutions are highly attractive, due to clean environment restrictions and the need for on demand availability of the battery. Class 3 pallet trucks represent the majority of the material handling equipment used in that market segment. EnerSys offers two advanced energy pack solutions that cover the requirements of these applications: Hawker XFC-Li 24V 38Ah battery, based on Lithium-Ion technology Hawker XFC 24V 82Ah battery, based on Advanced Lead technology These two solutions are ideal to perform the typical duty cycle (30-45 minutes) and coupled with fast charge and opportunity charging capabilities the battery can be ready and waiting for the next duty cycle. Both technologies will maintain truck availability with smaller but more flexible power solutions. Hawker XFC-Li It is the first time EnerSys has introduced Lithium-Ion technology into the Material Handling Solution market. The battery is constructed using cells incorporating lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO 4 ) cathode with a graphite anode. The introduction of lithium cells into the market will give the battery pack a long sevice life, better power density and an inherently safe Lithium-Ion solution. The prismatic steel cell boxes are robust and resistant to heat. There is also good performance capability at low temperatures. Each battery is equipped with the Battery Management System (BMS). The BMS provides continuous monitoring of the individual cells to manage the correct use of the battery and ensure safe operation including protection from over temperature, overcharge, over voltage, under voltage and also short circuit protection. The BMS incorporates cell balancing technology which will ensure maximum performance is available from the battery at all times during its service life. It also provides state of charge data through display and external communications via CAN bus link. Hawker XFC The solution is based on our renowned TPPL (Thin Plate Pure Lead) technology. The 12V blocs are constructed using pure lead plates which are much thinner than conventional lead calcium grids. Both positive and negative plates are low impedance enabling high current flow in recharge and discharge modes. The electrolyte is absorbed in a superior quality microporous glass mat separator with high absorption and stability, designed to enhance cyclic capability. Cell boxes are highly resistant to shock and vibration. The integral part of the Hawker XFC system is the Low Voltage Alarm (LVA), a small electronic device, located between the positive and negative cables. The battery pack also includes a Wi-IQ monitoring device which stores the complete data of the battery s service life. ON BOARD CHARGER Both technology versions include a matched high frequency charger which is located in the top compartment of the battery tray. The charger will ensure correct charging parameters for both rapid recharge and opportunity charging for use in Partial State of Charge (PSOC) operations. A full recharge of Hawker XFC from 60% DOD takes less than 3 hours. A full recharge of Hawker XFC-Li from 80% DOD takes less than 1 hour.
