100G with Datalogging 100G will automatically store 40 days of hourly data on the hour 960 intervals (40 days X 24 hours/day) with oldest interval dropping off as new interval is collected Beta testing to confirm 40 days of daily data can be collected via mobile at normal driving speeds Installing almost 1,000 modules at CenterPoint in Waseca, MN» Initial testing - Read 750 endpoints getting both SCM and 40 days of daily data at normal driving speeds» First capture SCM, then at frequency received, request 40 days of daily data and get back in one message To extract 40 days of HOURLY data anticipate need to slow down speeds and possibly stop First capture SCM, then at frequency received, make requests to get all data and get back in 24 messages
100G with Datalogging This will be a phased release throughout 2009 High volume ERT modules to be released first All ERT modules to Product Authorize by Q2 2009 No change in selling price Requires FC200SR EPL/EPLP v5.3 for programming For customers wanting to read SCM, no changes to 100G meter reading software or hardware For customers wanting to read Datalogging it requires updated Mobile Collector with updated Premierplus4, MV-RS and FCS to be available by end of 2009
Programming & Reading with FC200SR During initial programming the FC200SR should be held about 1 from the 100G During re-programming or check read on 100G without Datalogging in normal mode, the FC200SR should be held about 4-5 from the endpoint For 100G Datalogging the FC200SR should always be held about 1 from the 100G When performing a re-program or a check (e.g. audit) on 100G in audit mode, the FC200SR should be held about 1 from the endpoint Keep the FC200SR s antenna as vertical as possible From a distance standpoint this solution is more forgiving than a 40GB/R1Pro
Value of 100G Datalogging with Mobile Value proposition is to provide near functionality of a fixed network 1) Move In / Move Out to minimize off cycle reads (avoid or reduce cost of special reads/truck rolls) Regulatory pressure for actual reads instead of estimated reads 2) Daily Data for Customer Service and Billing Disputes 40 days of daily data facilitates One & Done for customer calls 3) Monthly Gas Balancing Transportation Customers Assess penalties Sarbanes Oxley is demanding more accountability Revenue protection 4) Hourly Data to facilitate Load Studies/Projections

Battery Life 100G vs 100G Datalogging Through better battery current management in 100G Datalogging, able to get to one battery with full 20 year battery life in mobile or fixed network mode
Battery Life Calculation The various failure mechanisms are as follows: (a) exhaustion of capacity, relative self discharge and voltage drop due to the operating conditions (b) Integrity of the mechanical can (battery packaging) Formula for calculating battery life in hours: Average battery capacity in microamp hours Average current consumed by circuit in microamps + self discharge in microamps = Average battery capacity in Ah X 10 6 total microamps to convert to years, divide answer by 8760 (i.e. 24 hours per day X 365 days per year)
40GB ERT Module read by Mobile Calculation of battery life for 40GB ERTs used in Wake Up Mode: Failure mechanism (a) viz. capacity, self discharge and voltage drop Average current consumed by the circuit during standby as well as wake up (once a month) =10 µa. Self discharge of each battery (based on the tests mentioned above) = 6 µa Average battery capacity (at present) = 3.65 Ah Average life = (3.65 Ah X 10 6 ) / 8760 = 26.04 years (10+6) Failure mechanism (b) viz. Integrity of the mechanical can Based on accelerated tests done on the product (including the battery) Life is at least 20 years Hence, based on the above 2 failure modes, battery life is at least 20 years, which is the design life of the ERT module.

100G Without Datalogging Battery Life Average current consumed by the circuit during standby as well as transmit = 30 µa Self discharge of the 2 pack battery (based on the tests mentioned above) = 14.62 µa Average battery capacity = 7.3 Ah (2 pack) Average life* = (7.3 Ah X 10 6 ) (30+14.62)X0.9 / 8760 = 20.75 years Failure mechanism viz. Integrity of the mechanical can = 20 years Based on accelerated tests done on the product (including the battery) 100G battery life is at least 20 years * Based on field data with same battery chemistry, this estimation is conservative by at least 10%,which accounts for 0.9 in the equation
100G Datalogging Battery Life Average current consumed by the circuit during standby as well as transmit = 14.86 µa Self discharge of the 2 pack battery (based on the tests mentioned above) = 7.31 µa Average battery capacity = 3.65 Ah (single cell) Average life* = (3.65 Ah X 10 6 ) (14.86+7.31)X0.9 / 8760 = 20.86 years Failure mechanism viz. Integrity of the mechanical can = 20 years Based on accelerated tests done on the product (including the battery) 100G battery life is at least 20 years * Based on field data with same battery chemistry, this estimation is conservative by at least 10%,which accounts for 0.9 in the equation
