The Company Founded in 1922, head office location: Sliedrecht The Netherlands Factory Warehouse Office Specialized in production of lifting shackles, hooks and supply of chain and steel wire rope accessories 1974 brand introduction GP 1993 ISO certified Currently ISO 9001 2008 2004 DNV 2.7-1 Type approval for shackles

Distributors Worldwide network > 80 countries > 800 distributors

SANS 2415:2005 ISO 2415:2004 (International Standard) 11.1 General Type tests demonstrate that shackles certified by the manufacturer as complying with the requirements laid down in this International Standard possess the mechanical properties specified in this International Standard. 14 Marking 14.1 Shackle Each shackle shall be legibly and indelibly marked in a manner which will not impair its mechanical properties. This marking shall include at least the following information placed on the shackle by the manufacturer: a) manufacturer s identification mark or symbol; b) grade number, i.e. 4, 6 or 8; c) working load limit in tonnes, e.g. WLL 10 t; d) traceability code, enabling any particular shackle or batch of shackles in the consignment to be identified.

Design Shackle marking How to recognize a genuine Green Pin quality product? Marking in the shackle body and pin Green powder coated pin Steel grade (Standard shackle 6) Producers mark (GP or Bs) all new shackle s will have GP mark Working Load Limit (WLL) Traceability code (Letter) The last four are SABS 2415:2004 requirement The GP depending on size will have more markings on it: CE, Holland, size eg ¾ Please note that GP has traceability on the shackle pin as well. Marking on pin Batch No. Grade 6 Manufacturers mark-gp WLL on body

Genuine Green Pin?

The Green Pin forging facility is the most modern of its kind in the world. Investments such as robotizing and mechanization of processes assure sufficient production volumes and high quality. This is all done to supply you reliable Green Pin shackles

Greater Strength: As the material grain flow is oriented to the component's shape.

Green Pin Shackle Benefit Green Pin shackle markings are on the side of the shackle. Prevents manufacture markings from wearing of. Reduces the wear on sling eyes that are connected to shackle. Increases the life of the customers slings As shackle size increases The marking become more prevalent increasing the damage to the sling.

Green Pin Shackle Production

Multi-leg sling When using shackles in connection with multi-leg slings, due consideration should be given to the effect of the angle between the legs of the sling. As the angle increases, so does the load in the sling leg and consequently in any shackle attached to that leg. When a shackle is used to connect two slings to the hook of a lifting device, a bow type shackle must be assembled with the slings in the shackle body and the hook engaged with the shackle pin. The angle between the slings should not exceed 120. If symmetrically loaded the shackle may be used to the full WLL.

Increase WLL When a shackle is used to secure slings to the top block (crane hook) the load on this shackle is increased by the value of the hoisting effect. Together with this and the forces generated by the angle of the slings, a higher WLL will be required for the shackle. Shackle Engagement Avoid applications where due to movement (e.g. of the load or the rope) the shackle pin can rotate and possibly be unscrewed. If such an application is necessary or when the shackle is to be left in place for a prolonged period or where maximum pin security is required, use a shackle with a safety bolt, nut and pin cotter pin.

Temperature If extreme temperature situations are applicable, the following load reduction must be taken into account: Reduction for elevated temperatures Temperature New Working Load Limit up to 200 C 100% of original Working Load Limit 200-300 C 90% of original Working Load Limit 300-400 C 75% of original Working Load Limit > 400 C not allowed Inspection It is required that the shackles are regularly inspected and that the inspection should take place in accordance with the safety standards given in the country of use. This is required because the products in use may be affected by wear, misuse, overloading etc. With a consequence of deformation and alteration of the material structure. Inspection should take place at least every three months and even more frequently when the shackles are used in severe operating conditions.
