ARTERIAL BRT OVERVIEW Key Question: Could arterial Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes improve near-term mobility in the northwest area until rail can be built? Key Findings: 6 arterial BRT routes have been recommended Stakeholders recommend SH 119 as top priority The 6 routes provide approximately 105 miles of improved service that connects northwest area communities and FasTracks Lines (Northwest Rail, North Metro and US 36 BRT) In 2035, 27,800 to 28,800 daily boardings are projected for the 6 routes All 6 routes would cost approximately $340M to implement (not including operating costs) Funding does not currently exist for any arterial BRT routes and a funding plan will need to be developed as part of this study

WHAT IS ARTERIAL BRT? Purpose Interim service to connect cities within the northwest area with more efficient and effective bus service. Running Way Exclusive lane where needed and feasible to implement Non-exclusive lanes elsewhere Queue jumps (where appropriate) Signal priority (where appropriate) Stations Dedicated boarding areas Ticket vending machines, shelters, lighting and security equipment (where appropriate) Infrastructure based on demand New/expanded Park-n-Rides (where needed) Vehicles Low-floor vehicles for easy boarding Branded vehicles Service Characteristics Buses every 10-15 minutes (higher frequencies if cost effective) Images for illustration purposes only final improvements will be selected during corridor design based on stakeholder and community input.

SH 119 BRT AT A GLANCE Starts/Ends: US-287 / 21st Ave Park-n-Ride in Longmont to Boulder Transit Center Length: 18.5 miles (60% bus on shoulder) 2035 Travel Time (Start to End): 36 minutes (8 minutes faster than bus without improvements / 1 minute faster than auto) Number of Stations: 57 Projected 2035 Boardings: 5,000 Estimated Capital Cost: $68.5M Dedicated transit way Boulder to Longmont

120TH AVE. BRT AT A GLANCE Starts/Ends: US 36 / Broomfield Park-n-Ride to Adams County Government Center Length: 16.3 miles 2035 Travel Time (Start to End): 41 minutes (19 minutes faster than bus without improvements / 2 minutes slower than auto) Number of Stations: 18 Projected 2035 Boardings: 5,000 Estimated Capital Cost: $37.1M Provides east-west connection from Broomfield to I-25/Adams County Government Center

ARTERIAL BRT RECOMMENDATIONS Determine priority of corridors for implementation Stakeholder group is recommending SH 119 as the first priority Implement these corridors as near-term mobility improvements prior to rail Wherever possible, build infrastructure in a way that it can also be used for rail in the future (e.g. stations, Park-n-Rides) The above renderings depict conceptual designs for enhanced BRT stations. They are preliminary concepts for discussion purposes only. Actual designs are subject to stakeholder and community input.
