Research and Development Experience at Power Electronics and Electrical Machine Drive PEEMD Research Group IIT Delhi Power Quality Improvement and Sensor Reduction in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives Research Supervisor Prof. Bhim Singh and Prof B.P. Singh, Professor, EE Deptt. IIT Delhi 1-Mathematical Model of PMSM drives are developed and simulated with advanced control techniques for performance improvements of Vector controlled PMSM Drive, Direct Torque Controlled PMSM Drive, Sensor less Vector Controlled PMSM Drive, Sensor less Direct Torque Controlled PMSM Drive, with MATLAB, PSB/Simulink/Fuzzy Logic Toolboxes. 2-Intelligent Controller including Fuzzy Logic Controller, Sliding Mode Controller and Hybrid Fuzzy PI Controller are also Investigated for Performance Improvement of PMSM Drive. 3-Analog Devices Motion Control Digital Signal Processor (DSP-ADMC401) Based Extensive Experimental Validation are Obtained with Advanced Control Techniques for Intelligent Speed Controllers based Vector Control (VC) and Direct Torque Control (DTC) PMSM drives, Sensorless Control of Vector Controlled and Direct Torque Controlled PMSM drive. 4-Modeling and Simulation is Obtained for Single-Phase Switch Mode Rectifier (SMR) with Single Switch Control, Symmetrical Two-Switch Control and Asymmetrical Two Switch Control for Power Quality Improvements of Input AC Mains while feeding the PMSM Drive. The MATLAB with PSB/Simulink Based Simulation Model are Investigated for Performance Comparison of These Switch Mode Rectifier for Power Quality Improvements of Vector Controlled and Direct Torque Controlled PMSM Drive. 5-Digital Signal Processor (DSP-ADMC401) based Experimental Validations are Obtained for Power Quality Improvements of PMSM Drive with Front End Single-Phase Switch Mode Rectifiers. 6-High Frequency Isolated AC-DC Switch Mode Power Supply for Feeding the PMSM Drive is Modeled for Improving the Power Quality of Input AC Mains While Feeding PMSM Drive. PSIM Based Simulation Models are Developed and Used for Assessing the Performance of High Frequency Isolated AC-DC Converters for Power Quality Improvements in PMSM drives Which Includes AC-DC Cuk Converter, AC- DC SEPIC Converter, AC-DC Flyback Converter and AC-DC Zeta Converter. 7-Control of the Front End Improved Power Quality Converter is implemented in Hardware Platform Based on DSP ADMC401. The Associated Interfacing Components and Switch is Developed to Validate the Algorithm and Design Developed of These High Frequency Isolated AC-DC Converters. 2
