ANNEX VI Measurement and alulation methods 1. For the purposes of ompliane and verifiation of ompliane with the requirements of this Regulation, measurements and alulations shall be made using a reliable, aurate and reproduible methods that take into aount the generally reognised state-of-the-art measurement and alulation methods, inluding harmonised standards the referene numbers of whih have been published for the purpose in the Offiial Journal of the European Union. They shall meet the tehnial definitions, onditions, equations and parameters set out this Annex. 2. Tehnial definitions (a) (b) () (d) (e) (f) (g) hard floor test means a test of two leaning yles where the leaning head of a vauum leaner operating at maximum sution setting passes over a wooden test plate test area with width equal to the leaning head width and appropriate length, featuring a diagonally (45 ) plaed test revie, where the time elapsed, eletri power onsumption and the relative position of the enter of the leaning head to the test area are ontinuously measured and reorded at an appropriate sample rate and where at the end of eah leaning yle the mass derease of the test revie is appropriately assessed; test revie means a removable U-shaped insert with appropriate dimensions filled at the beginning of a leaning yle with appropriate artifiial dust; arpet test means a test with an appropriate number of leaning yles on a Wilton arpet test rig where the leaning head of a vauum leaner operating at maximum sution setting passes over the test area with width equal to the leaning head width and appropriate length, soiled with equally distributed and appropriately embedded test dust of appropriate omposition, where the time elapsed, eletri power onsumption and the relative position of the enter of the leaning head to the test area are ontinuously measured and reorded at an appropriate sample rate and at the end of eah leaning yle the mass inrease of the appliane dust reeptale is appropriately assessed; leaning head width in m, at an auray of 3 deimal plaes, means the external maximum width of the leaning head; leaning yle means a sequene of 5 double strokes of the vauum leaner on a floor-speifi test area ( arpet or hard floor ); double stroke means one forward and one bakward movement of the leaning head in a parallel pattern, performed at a uniform test stroke speed and with a speified test stroke length; test stroke speed in m/h means the appropriate leaning head speed for testing, preferably realized with an eletromehanial operator. Produts with self-propelled leaning heads shall try to ome as lose as possible to the appropriate speed, but a deviation is permitted when learly stated in the tehnial doumentation; EN 2 EN
(h) (i) (j) (k) (l) test stroke length in m means the length of the test area plus the leaning head distane overed by the enter of the leaning head when moving over the appropriate aeleration zones before and after the test area; dust pik up (dpu), at an auray of 3 deimal plaes, means the ratio of the mass of the artifiial dust removed, determined for arpet through the mass inrease of the appliane dust reeptale and for hard floor through the mass derease of the test revie, after a number of double strokes of the leaning head, to the mass of artifiial dust initially applied to a test area, for arpet orreted for the speifi test onditions and for hard floor orreted for the length and positioning of the test revie; referene vauum leaner system means eletrially operated laboratory equipment used to measure the alibrated and referene dust pik-up on arpets with given air related parameters to improve the reproduibility of test results; rated input power in W means the eletri input power delared by the manufaturer, whereby for applianes that are enabled to funtion also for other purposes than vauum leaning only the eletri input power relevant to vauum leaning applies; dust re-emission means the ratio, expressed as a perentage at an auray of 2 deimal plaes, of the number of all dust partiles of a size from 0.3 to 10 μm emitted by a vauum leaner to the number of all dust partiles of the same size range entering the sution inlet when fed with a speifi amount of dust of that partile size range. The value inludes not only dust measured at the vauum leaner outlet but also dust emitted elsewhere either from leaks, or generated by the vauum leaner; (m) sound power level means airborne aoustial noise emissions, expressed in db(a) re 1 pw and rounded to the nearest integer. 3. Annual energy onsumption The annual energy onsumption AE is alulated, in kwh/year and rounded to one deimal plae, as follows: for arpet vauum leaners: AE = 4 87 50 0.001 ASE 1 0.20 dpu 0.20 for hard floor vauum leaners: AE hf = 4 87 50 0.001 ASE hf 1 0.20 dpuhf 0.20 EN 3 EN
for general-purpose vauum leaners: AE = 0.5 AE + 0. 5 AE gp hf ASE is the average speifi energy onsumption in Wh/m² during arpet test, alulated as provided below; ASE hf is the average speifi energy onsumption in Wh/m² during hard floor test, alulated as provided below; dpu is the dust pik-up on arpet, determined in aordane with point 4 of this Annex; dpu hf is the dust pik-up on hard floor, determined in aordane with point 4 of this Annex; 50 is the standard number of leaning tasks per year; 87 is the standard dwelling surfae to be leaned in m²; 4 is the standard number of times that a vauum leaner passes over eah point on the floor (two double strokes); 0.001 is the onversion fator from Wh to kwh; 1 is the standard dust pik-up; 0.20 is the standard differene between dust pik-up after five and after two double strokes. Average speifi energy onsumption (ASE) The average speifi energy onsumption during arpet test (ASE ) and during hard floor test (ASE hf ) shall be determined as an average of the speifi energy onsumption (SE) of the number of leaning yles that onstitute the arpet and hard floor test respetively. The general equation for the speifi energy onsumption SE in Wh/m² test area, at an auray of 3 deimal plaes, appliable for arpet, hard floor and general purpose vauum leaners with the appropriate suffixes, is: SE ( P = + NP ) t A P is the average power in W, at an auray of 2 deimal plaes, during the time in a leaning yle that the enter of the leaning head is moving over the test area; EN 4 EN
NP is the average power equivalent in W, at an auray of 2 deimal plaes, of battery operated ative nozzle, if any, of the vauum leaner, alulated as provided below; t is the total time in hours, at an auray of 4 deimal plaes, in a leaning yle during whih the entre of the leaning head, i.e. a point halfway between the side, front and bak edges of the leaning head, is moving over the test area; A is the surfae area in m², at an auray of 3 deimal plaes, passed over by the leaning head in a leaning yle, alulated as 10 times the produt of the head width and the appropriate length of test area. If a household vauum leaner has a head width of over 0.320 m, then the figure of 0.320 m shall be substituted for head width in this alulation. For the hard floor tests the suffix hf and parameter names SE hf, P hf, NP hf, t hf and A hf shall be used in the above equation. For the arpet tests the suffix and parameter names SE, P, NP, t and A shall be used in the above equation.
