CIRRUS SR2X Service Bulletin Number: Issued: February 27, 2012 SNS SUBJECT: 21-60 TEMPERATURE CONTROL - Cabin Air Coupler Actuator Rigging 1. COMPLIANCE Recommended, On Condition: Accomplish this Service Bulletin on condition of cabin air coupler actuator rigging functionality. An improperly rigged cabin air coupler actuator is indicated by overly warm cabin heat in cold weather and poor performance of the air conditioning system in hot weather. 2. EFFECTIVITY SR20 Serials 20-1878, 20-1886 thru 20-2126. SR22 Serials 22-2334, 22-2420, 22-2438 thru 22-3825, 22-3827, 22-3828, 22-3830 thru 22-3832. SR22T Serials 22T-0001 thru 22T-0284, 22T-0288 thru 22T-0290. 3. APPROVAL FAA approval has been obtained on all technical data in this Service Bulletin that affects type design. 4. PURPOSE Cirrus Design has recently discovered a condition where on some affected airplanes, incorrect cabin air coupler actuator rigging at the factory results in a condition where the hot air valve does not close fully. This condition will cause overly warm cabin heat in cold weather and poor performance of the air conditioning system in hot weather. To correct this condition, this Service Bulletin provides cabin air coupler actuator rigging instructions. 5. DESCRIPTION This Service Bulletin provides instructions for rigging the cabin air coupler actuator. 6. WARRANTY INFORMATION Operators who have complied with this On Condition Service Bulletin should contact Cirrus Aircraft Customer Service at 800-921-2737 Option 3 for warranty reimbursement. 7. MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS 1.0 manhour. 8. OTHER PUBLICATIONS AFFECTED SR20 Airplane Maintenance Manual (p/n 12137-001) SR22/22T Airplane Maintenance Manual (p/n 13773-001) 9. Supplier Purpose Wire Cutter - Any Source Trim linkage wire. B. Pull STARTER RELAY and FUEL PUMP RELAY circuit breakers. C. Connect 28 ±1 VDC external power to external power receptacle. D. Set BAT 1 switch to ON position. E. Remove engine cowling. (Refer to AMM 71-10) F. Remove clamps securing fresh air duct and heat exchanger duct to air mixing chamber. Disconnect ducts. (Refer to AMM 21-40) G. Procedure - Cabin Air Coupler Actuator Rigging (See Figure 1) (1) Loosen wire stop on linkage wire. (2) Set temperature control knob to full cold. (3) Position heat control arm on air mixing chamber so that hot air valve is fully closed. (4) Tighten wire stop on linkage wire. (5) Rotate temperature control knob from full cold to full hot. (Refer to AMM 21-60) (6) Verify fresh air valve is fully closed. (7) Cycle temperature control knob a few times to verify hot and fresh air valves open/close fully without binding. (Refer to AMM 21-60) Note: If fresh air valve does not close fully, verify aircraft batteries are sufficiently charged (supplying 20 volts minimum). If charge is sufficient, repeat Procedure - Cabin Air Coupler Actuator Rigging to reposition linkage wire as required until both valves close fully. (8) Verify approximately 0.5 inch (1.3 cm) of wire extends beyond wire stop. Use wire cutter to remove any excess wire length. H. Position fresh air duct and heat exchanger duct to air mixing chamber, and secure with clamps. (Refer to AMM 21-40) I. Install engine cowling. (Refer to AMM 71-10) J. Set BAT 1 switch to OFF position. K. Disconnect 28 ±1 VDC external power from external power receptacle. L. Reset STARTER RELAY and FUEL PUMP RELAY circuit breakers. M. Complete airplane records by noting compliance with in Aircraft Logbook. Page 2
