. Description.1. Design The FLOWX3 NEW F3.60M.S Insertion Magmeter is suitable to measure flow rate in both metal an thermoplastic pipelines. No moving mechanical parts an the high quality materials allow the measurement of liquis where suspene solis can be present or of abrasive liquis as long as they are conuctive an homogeneous. The sensor can be assemble into the stanar FLS fitting range so it is perfectly interchangeable with the palewheel sensors. The new esign allows an accurate flow measurement over a wie ynamic range in pipe sizes from 15 (0.5 ) to 600 (4 ). The NEW F3.60M.S offer frequency output for use with FLS flow instrumentation or 4- ma output for long istance transmission an PLC connection... Operating Principle If an electrical conuctor is cause to move in a magnetic fiel, such movement inuces a voltage in the conuctor ( Faraay s law ). The magnetic coil in the boy of the instrument generates a magnetic fiel perpenicular to the flow irection. The magnetic fiel an the velocity inuce a voltage between the electroes. The voltage is irectly proportional to the flow velocity. The voltage is converte into a flow proportional 4- ma output signal or frequency output signal. 3

4. Installation 4.1. Location Different pipe configurations an obstacles in the flow line such as valves, elbows, pipe bens an strainers create variations on the flow profile. Whenever possible follow the EN ISO 5167-1 installation recommenations to locate the sensor. Always maximize istance between flow sensor an pump. 4.. Mounting Position The following configurations ensure that the pipe is always full: for a correct measurement the sensor can NOT be expose to air bubbles at any time. Avoi the following situations unless you are absolutely sure the sensor is not expose to air bubbles. 6

In gravity-flow systems the connection to the tank must be esigne so the level oes not rop below the outlet: this to avoi pipe to raw air in from the tank causing an erratic measurement of the Magmeter. 4.3. Wiring All wiring connections to F3.60M.S are mae via removable terminals. Flow sensor terminals are orange, all other terminals are green. General recommenation Always ensure the power supply is switche off before working on the evice. Terminals accept 6 to 1 AWG (0.08 to.5 mm ) Strip aroun 10 mm (0.4 ) of insulation from the wire tips an tin bare ens to avoi fraying. Ferrules are suggeste when connecting more than one wire to a single terminal. Remove the upper part of the terminals for an easy cabling. Insert wire tip or ferrule completely into the terminal an fix with the screw until finger tight. The Magmeter output signal may be unstable immeiately after the installation. Install the sensor in a full pipe for 4 hours will stabilize the performance. With a very low Electrical Conuctivity coul be necessary a longer conitioning perio. Use electrical cables with the proper external iameter for the liqui tight connector: PG11: external iameter between -7 mm (0.079-0.76 ) PG13,5: external iameter between 5-1 mm (0.197-0.47 ) 7

4.4 Earthing The magmeter normally is uninfluence by low levels of electrical noise. In some applications it is necessary to connect the sensor to earth to eliminate electrical noise. The eathing can be one in one or more of these ifferent ways: connect a groun wire to the External Earth Groun Terminal, this terminal is internally connecte to the sensor boy. Insert metallic piping parts ( such as flange earthing rings ) into the plastic pipe before an after the magmeter an earth them together. Connect at the same earth the External Earth Groun Terminal. 5. Calibration The setting has to be one before powering up the instrument. 5.1.
