RF EXPOSURE OF FCC Inductive wireless power transfer applications that meet all of the following requirements are excluded from submitting an RF exposure evaluation. a) Power transfer frequency 1 MHz b) Output power from each primary coil is 5 watts (For Qi, inquiry needed) c) The transfer system includes only single primary and secondary coils. This includes charging systems that may have multiple primary coils and clients that are able to detect and allow coupling only between individual pairs of coils d) Client device is placed directly in contact with the transmitter(charger) e) The maximum coupling surface area of the transmit (charging) device is between 60 cm2 and 400 cm2. f) Aggregate leakage fields at 10 cm surrounding the device from all simultaneous transmitting coils are demonstrated to be less than 30% of the MPE limit. RF EXPOSURE OF CANADA The following categories of WPT devices may require additional instructions on test setup, specific test procedure and/or technical requirements: 1) High Power WPT devices (E.g. electric vehicle) 2) Transfer distance 10 cm 3) Medical Devices 4) Wireless power transfer frequency 400MHz. As such, prior to verifying compliance with RSS-216, an inquiry must be submitted to the Directorate of Regulatory Standards (DRS) of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) for these four categories of WPT devices. The inquiry shall include sufficient information pertaining to the technology and operation of the device in order for the Department to determine the applicable technical and administrative requirements for the specific device. 29
