FOR ALL SINGLE MOTOR UNITS INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS REV 12/15 89

INTRODUCTION Congratulations, you have just purchased one of the most unique trolling motors available today. It is the Original Engine Mounted Trolling Motor. With proper installation and care, your Navigator Trolling motor will provide you with years of trouble free use and performance. Please take a few moments to review the information contained in this booklet. The installation procedures suggested will help you successfully mount your new Navigator Trolling motor. Installation is easy particularly when you know each step ahead of time. These are the items that are included in the box: 1 Navigator Trolling Motor 1 Remote Speed Control 1 Control Module and cable 4 Bolts 4 5/16 Washers 4 5/16 Nuts 4 - #10 Screws 3 Cable Ties 1 Cable Clamp 1 Velcro/Hook Strip 1- Jumper Cable (Model 65-5500 only) GETTING STARTED Here is a list of the tools and supplies that you will need: 1. An Electric drill with a 5/16" and 1/8" bit 2. A ½ inch wrench for the nuts 3. A hex head allen wrench for the bolts 4. A Phillips head screwdriver 5. Two clamps to help hold the NAVIGATOR in place while marking holes for drilling ( optional ) 6. One 12 Volt deep cycle battery (Model 35 and 52 Series) Two 12 Volt deep cycle batteries (Model 55 Series)

!!WARNING!! BEFORE STARTING ANY INSTALLATION, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TO THE MAIN ENGINE AND REMOVE THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL STARTING AND POSSIBLE INJURY. MOUNTING THE MOTOR NOTE: Swim platforms may interfere with the Navigator trolling when your main motor is fully tilted upward. Check before drilling holes in your cavitation 1. Position the Navigator motor onto the anti-cavitation plate of the main engine, moving the mounting bracket as close to the main engine as possible. If needed, bend the mounting 2. Clamp the Navigator in place and carefully mark four 5/16 holes. Remove the Navigator and drill the holes through the cavitation plate. CORRECT NOT CORRECT 3. Place the Navigator over the four holes that you just drilled. Insert the four 5/16" bolts through the drilled holes of the anti- cavitation plate. Attach the washers and lock nuts. After all four bolts, washers and lock nuts are installed, tighten each lock nut securely. 4. Run the cable from the Navigator motor inside the boat though a cable port or any other available opening in the back of the boat. Be sure to leave enough slack in the motor cable in order to raise and lower the main engine. Secure the motor cable to the main engine housing with the cable clamp by using an existing bolt from the outboard or I/O, or, if an existing bolt is not available, secure the cable to the engine housing or brackets with one of the cable ties supplied. Further secure the cable to existing cables or wiring running though the boat transom by using the remaining cable ties. Make sure that there is enough slack when the outboard is in the full up AND down position.

PROP INSTALLATION 1. Insert drive pin into hole on motor shaft. 2. Slide prop onto motor shaft and rotate so the grove on the inside of the prop aligns with the drive pin. Push firmly so the prop slides completely onto motor shaft. 3. On Model 3500 insert cotter pin in prop nose farthest (A) from the propeller blades. For all other models, insert cotter pin in the prop nose closest (B) to the propeller blades. Note: 1. The prop must be fully seated into the drive pin in order for the cotter pin to be inserted through the hole on the nose of the prop. Note: 2. The propeller hole and cotter pin are off-centered when properly installed.

CONTROL MODULE INSTALLATION The state of the art control module contains all the electronics that are needed to operate your Navigator. There are no serviceable parts to the control module. 1. Mount the control module anywhere within 3ft of your deep cell battery. Make sure there is adequate air flow for the control module. The power cable from the Navigator trolling motor MUST be able to be connected to the control module. Although the control module is water resistant, it is recommended that the location you choose be as free from water as possible. 2. Mark and drill 1/8" pilot holes. 3. Fasten the control module securely with four #10 screws provided. INSTALLING REMOTE The remote is designed to be installed at or near the driver's seat. 1. Using the Velcro strip supplied, mount the remote to a handy surface. 2. After removing the cable from the controller, run the 25' cable from the control module up to the area where the remote will be located. 3. Line up the cable to the remote connector and push together. Screw securely for a watertight connection. 4. When the remote is not in use it should be placed in a protective area. This unit is not water proof, it is water resistant.

CONNECTING CABLES AND BATTERY NOTE: Make sure that your REMOTE is in the "OFF" Model 65-3500 and 65-5200 Series (12 Volt) 1. Plug the matching connectors together from the Navigator motor cord to the control module cables. Make sure that they are tight. 2. Connect the 3/8" red wire ring terminal from the control module to the positive battery terminal. Tighten securely. 3. Connect the 3/8" black wire ring terminal from the control module to the negative battery terminal. Tighten securely. Model 65-5500 Series ( 24 Volt ) 1. Connect the 3/8" red wire ring terminal from the control module to the positive battery post on battery "A". 2. Connect the 3/8" black wire ring terminal to the negative battery post on battery "B"

TESTING IT OUT/TIPS Now's the time to test your new Navigator trolling system to make sure everything is operating properly. Make sure objects and people are away from the props. When storing your boat for a long period of time, we recommend that the Navigator be disconnected (electrically) from your battery and the Control Module and Hand Held Remote be removed and/or stored indoors and away from any water intrusion. REMOTE FUNCTIONS All Digital Display Thrust controlled with rotary Dial Displays numeric scale 0-250 which represents thrust output, 250 = max thrust Battery Check: voltage level of boat battery and Amp draw Switch from Forward to Reverse mode Push button Max Thrust Press Run to establish operating mode Power up unit or turn off TROUBLESHOOTING MOTOR WILL NOT OPERATE OR OPERATES VERY SLOWLY, Check for the following: Disconnected battery leads Discharged battery/low battery charge Corroded battery terminals Disconnected motor leads or control motor cables. Fishing line or weeds around motor shaft Corroded battery terminals Loose propeller or broken drive pin
