In our industry this has been reflected by customers reducing momentarily their investments. However, thanks to the Tokheim strategy of providing three product line solutions (Dispensers, Systems and Services) across a wide range of customers, Tokheim has once again continued its growth, with sales increasing from M 476 to M 505 compared to the previous fiscal year. Our profitability has followed the same positive trend. Sales (M ) 2004-2005 2005-2006 2006-2007 2007-2008 2008-2009 361 419 459 476 505 During this period, nevertheless, Tokheim has witnessed a significant slow down of investment in the Eastern European markets and India. On a more positive note, however, global sales of dispensers have been good, thanks to our position of primary supplier in Europe for Total, ExxonMobil and OMV and also due to strong sales to Africa and China. Early 2009 Tokheim has been once again selected and awarded by Total the "main supplier" position for Dispensers in Europe and Africa. Although there have not been any major Automation systems project roll-outs in Europe this year, we have continued with the necessary developments for and to penetrate new markets within Europe, Africa and Asia for our Tokheim Automation Systems. Growth in Service has continued across our existing business units with particular success secured by the award of the maintenance contract for a significant number of service stations from ExxonMobil in Italy and the award of a substantial Vapour Recovery retrofit project with Shell in the UK. Tokheim's consistent high quality and superior technology are the key factors relating to this continued success : The down time of our dispensers is the lowest in the market, The technology of our patented Outdoor Payment touch screen Terminal, the Crypto VGA is well ahead of competition (Fully PCI-POS, EMV and Common Criteria certified), Our Service organisation has implemented the use of PDA terminals seamlessly and efficiently, contributing to continued world class quality service. Tokheim currently have 31.500 service stations under direct maintenance contracts. With regards to our expansion plans for Asia, the high price of oil and the weakness of the US dollar have, unfortunately, over the last year contributed to slowing this down. Tokheim, over a difficult period with the world financial crisis, have with strong management and continued alignment with our business principles and the demands of our customers also been able and positioned by our shareholders to make several acquisitions this year : - Goehler, a major service provider company in Germany, - Forecourt Systems, number one equipment and service provider to the Service Station market in Ireland, - 3 Electrical Services companies in Austria, France and The Netherlands and a Back-office software company in the U.K. Our primary goals for the next 6 months remain aligned with our global strategy : Continue with our organic growth as well as securing opportunities for external growth in Europe and Asia, Further develop the advantages and potential of the Tokheim Joint Venture s in China and India to reduce the overall cost of dispensers and to expand market share worldwide, Remain dedicated to our lean and efficient approach, to deliver better quality and value to our customers. Many thanks once again to all our customers, partners and employees for their supporting attitude. Patrick Berthon President and CEO
Stand-alone Crypto VGA pole Crypto VGA: FIRST in the world PCI UPT approved The Tokheim Crypto VGA with its all-in-one secure touch screen combining customer convenience and security confirmed its enhanced security functionality by obtaining the first PCI UPT certificate to be awarded in the world. The PCI UPT requirements are PCI PED 2.0 based and include specific requirements for Unattended Payment as they are applied to Fuel Dispensing. It is important to recognise that other competitive solutions currently being marketed may have obtained limited approvals. Most will only comply with the PCI EPP requirements, which specifically covers the PIN pad security only. The Crypto VGA has obtained full PCI UPT approval which validates and approves the complete terminal configuration including for the PIN pad, Card reader, Customer display, etc. The Crypto VGA was launched by Tokheim approximately two years ago and is now deployed throughout the world. The Tokheim expertise in security, innovation and product development with respect to the needs of the market has delivered a product to the market which maintains the Tokheim position as best-in-class, not only in customer convenience but more especially on the security aspects which continue to play a more and more important part in the retail petroleum business. The process and procedures passed by the Crypto VGA within the PCI UPT evaluation programme, we at Tokheim feel further establishes and confirms its unique status in the Unattended Payment world. EURO VI Legislation Quantium AdBlue Combo The infrastructure for AdBlue in Europe continues to expand. Each month 25.000 new SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) trucks enter the European network. In total there are now more than 500.000 SCR trucks in operation. To respond to the increased demand, there are now more than 2.000 service stations offering AdBlue. With the new Euro VI legislation set to take effect in Europe from January 1st 2013, truck and bus manufacturers are combining various technologies to meet emission targets. The SCR technology will continue to be used, confirming that AdBlue is here to stay. Additional growth is now expected for light duty trucks and possibly even passenger cars. Tokheim was the first supplier to launch the full range of dispensers complying with ISO 22241 and to date has installed over 2.000 dispensers and containers. In addition to the Quantium 100 and 500-series stand-alone dispensers and container module, Tokheim have recently launched the Quantium 500 series AdBlue Combo unit. As AdBlue is mainly sold in combination with Diesel, this dispenser offers a convenient and efficient filling operation via one dedicated customer interface. After extensive field validation by Tokheim of the ZVA-2 nozzle from Elaflex, Tokheim are now in a position to supply the Quantium range of dispensers with this option if required and specified by our Customers. Elaflex confirm that the new nozzle will deliver the following improvements: Reduced operating force by 30%, enabling the end user with easier control and dispensing to the cent ; Weight reduction of 10%; Less environmental contamination, due to a standard drip catcher, faster draining after operation, optimised geometry of the outlet channels and a diesel drip stop valve at the tip of the spout; A specific nozzle for higher flow rates, to optimise flow and avoiding a too high pressure loss; Expected longer life-time, due to reduced internal spring forces and standardisation of all spouts with the stainless steel tip; Complete integration of vapour valves into the body. E10 bioethanol Several markets in Europe have recently commenced with the introduction of E10 bio-ethanol. This is when a total of 10% of bio-ethanol is mixed into regular unleaded fuel. As a leading manufacturer of high quality and reliable fuel dispensers, the Tokheim Quantium range of dispensers are well prepared for this new fuel. This has been confirmed by extensive compatibility tests and by working to the French specification : SP95-E10. Please contact your local Tokheim representative for dispenser specific recommendations and support before changing to fuel mixtures that include this or a higher percentage of Ethanol. European Legislation for Stage II Vapour Recovery systems accepted The volatile petrol vapours that are emitted during the re-fuelling of cars at service stations will have to be captured according to an agreement reached with the European Council. The European Parliament confirmed on May 5, 2009 an agreement which demands that Stage II petrol vapour recovery technologies will become compulsory at new or renovated service stations with large throughput volumes as of January 1, 2012. Almost all service stations (small ones will be exempted) will be obliged to install these new technologies by 2018. An exception will be introduced for service stations used exclusively in association with the construction and delivery of new motor vehicles. The well accepted and widely approved Tokheim Vapor Recovery solutions, ECVR-OL (Open Loop) and ECVR-SCS (Self Calibrating System), fulfill all the demands and requirements as described in the new European agreement. These solutions make use of well proven and established state of the art components and control systems that have delivered quality, robustness and reliability to the markets and customers supplied by Tokheim over many years. Quantium 500T dispensers installed with the new TQC-VGA Quantium 500T with TQC-VGA installed in a service station in Madrid Standard Tokheim lay-out for Media and non-media application In February of this year Tokheim delivered the first Quantium dispensers with the new TQC-VGA operating platform. These were installed on a high volume high end motorway service station in Spain. The primary focus is the ability to provide seamless operating service and data information exchange at the pump with the end user. From the first day of commissioning the customers feedback has been extremely positive, in particular the one screen functionality aspect that allows the transaction information to be demonstrated clearly and concisely to the end user at the same time as product advertising. Tokheim first launched the TQC-VGA concept to the market during Automechanika 2008, highlighting the key benefits and added value to the customer of the VGA screen during the vehicle refuelling operation. Since the marketing launch at the Automechanika, Tokheim have received many requests for trial and installation. These first units are now successfully installed and operational in Spain after focused engagement and agreement with the client on the optimal screen lay-out and information content required. This is delivering best value for the end user and the client when utilising the new platform. We are currently releasing this new platform to other selected markets throughout Europe and working in parallel with our clients to optimise and customise the platform in line with their and their existing and targeted customers needs and expectations. Tokheim Launches Integritas, a new range of Environmental and Tank-Gauging Products Ever since John J. Tokheim produced his pioneering dispenser in 1898, the Tokheim reputation for innovation and reliability has been acknowledged throughout the world. This summer, Tokheim continues with this culture of innovation and is pleased to announce the launch of Integritas, a comprehensive range of environmental and tank-gauging products. The Integritas range offers a variety of systems from entrylevel probes right through to high level head-office wet stock management packages. Working with Tokheim: The highest volume throughput service station in Europe Berchem is probably one of the highest volume throughput stations in the world and is situated on the A3/E25 in Luxembourg. The key advantage of this location in Europe is that all traffic coming from France heading towards Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and the North-East of Europe may stop to fuel and shop at this location. Today, Berchem consists of three main sections where Tokheim play a key role in the processing of the fuel and shop transactions. The truck section allows the possibility to fill up to 24 large trucks at the same time, the private cars section provides 27 filling positions and the separate shop building has 5 cash registers. History Since the 80s, Tokheim has been a key partner for the client at Berchem. At the beginning of the 90s, Tokheim had already started to automate the complete site with electronic card payment through the Micro-Max system. At the beginning of this century, together with the introduction of the Euro, Tokheim Belgium installed the Fuel POS configuration in Berchem for the existing shop and private cars sections. Every section has its own redundancy but all EPOS terminals are connected to the same Back Office for all the management applications. The shop has 5 multi Fuel POS terminals and also for the private cars part, the client constructed 5 cash desks with Fuel POS. When it became obvious that the transport business was looking for dedicated and fast lane fuelling opportunities for their trucks, the client constructed an 18 lane High Speed Diesel section in 2003. Tokheim installed 18 Quantium 500T Master - Slave combinations which were equipped to provide a flow rate of between 140 and 150 l/min to allow the optimal and efficient throughput of traffic. In addition, the Master units were provided with dispenser integrated terminals (DITs) for pay@pump functionality. Further, in 2003, a connection was made to the Tokheim OASE platform to allow the acceptance and processing of several fuel cards. Other milestones have been the installation of new touch screens in 2004, the extension of the truck section with 6 additional lanes and the switch to IFSF pump controllers in 2005. At the beginning of 2006, the client also introduced AdBlue in to the market with the installation of 24 Quantium 500T AdBlue dispensers. In the more recent past (2006-2008) the client replaced the existing BIM-2010 DIT terminals with the Tokheim Crypto VGA payment solution to allow EMV transactions at the truck section to be handled. In addition, a part of the private cars section was also equipped with 15 Crypto VGA Dispenser Integrated Terminals to create 15 fast fuelling lanes with outdoor card payment. Facts and figures today: Shop: 5 multi Fuel POS terminals Private cars: 5 multi Fuel POS for cash and indoor card payment with Crypto VGA terminals for 15 fast lane positions Trucks: 4 multi Fuel POS for 24 truck filling positions with Quantium VHS Diesel and AdBlue dispensers and Crypto VGA DITs Services Due to the needs of the client and because of the very high volume throughput on this station, the client invested in a 24 hours Tokheim service contract for all the equipment installed with very specific and fast intervention times. This high service level becomes even more obvious during a holiday period when the traffic on site reaches its peak level. When the complete station is saturated, a break down of 1 or more fuelling lanes in this period will immediately escalate into a traffic jam that could cause a safety issue at the highway exit closest to the site. Therefore, the reliability of the Tokheim systems, payment and dispensing equipment is of the highest importance. Even the possibility of accident damage is covered in this relationship by a specific programme to have very short-term replacement on site. This is particularly important for the truck section which is monitored on a daily basis for damaged parts which could impact the throughput. Throughput is money at all times but with the volume throughput at this site even a minor incident could create major difficulties. The success of the station at Berchem is proof of what can be achieved with a positive co-operation and proactive relationship between Tokheim and the client. We at Tokheim feel this is a real example which confirms and further establishes the overall quality of our offer and our commitment and dedication to all aspects of the retail petroleum business. 5
OASE (On Line Authorisation Environment) from Tokheim continues to successfully expand Several years ago Tokheim identified a need to deliver their own secure OASE for fleet, bank and credit cards. What was originally launched to handle the fleet cards of several oil companies has expanded to become one of the most advanced and mature authorisation host solutions available within the fuel retail business. In addition, OASE is also currently utilised by several oil companies and card acquirers as their end host solution and is linked to more than 45+ banks and / or card hosts based on H2H ISO 8583 or APACS. At this time 6061 retail petroleum stations are linked to OASE and it currently handles more than 8.500.000 transactions per month. The number of hosts and stations linked to OASE continues to expand day by day and over the last two months we have opened new links with BP, AS24, PBS, Telekurs, Barclays and B+S. The Tokheim Fuel POS Installations continue to develop internationally During 2009, Tokheim have installed their global system of choice, the Fuel POS, in the following new markets identified by Tokheim as providing real opportunity for growth within the systems segment of our business: China, Lebanon, Tunisia, Senegal, Morocco and Nigeria. In these markets we have experienced that many National and International Oil Companies recognise the true benefit of embracing a well proven and well established systems solution that enables them to manage and control their fuel and shop sales business. Tokheim with the integrated fuel controller and level gauge controller working in parallel with our highly scalable software application feel that this has been key to providing and installing the product requested by these Customers to meet the demands of the markets that they operate in.
