DPW Monthly Report July Statistics. Randazzo noted that grinder calls were extremely high during the two week period of average temperatures during the middle of July. The DPW staff saw a lot of power related issues and Randazzo notified DTE of the problems. MOTION BY HOHL, SUPPORTED BY MENZIES TO NOTE THE DPW MONTHLY REPORT AS RECEIVED AND TO BE FILED AND TO ALSO FORWARD A COPY TO THE TOWNSHIP BOARD AS AN AGENDA ITEM FOR THEIR REVIEW. Ayes: Hohl, Hahn, Menzies Absent: None Nays: None Motion carried. B. DH071-93 Simplex Grinder Pump Purchase Request. Campbell explained that at this time the Township has only eight (8) Simplex grinder pump stations available in inventory. With the current rate of construction and new sewer connections the Township will run out of grinder pumps in the next couple of months. The current charge for the sale of a grinder pump station for individual sewer connections is $2,995.00. This price was set in 2012 by the Township Board until the current inventory is depleted. Campbell has requested a quote from Dubois-Cooper & Associates for a full truckload of the new DH071-93 grinder pump stations. The cost per grinder pump station has increased recently to $2,783.00 per station with the purchase of a full truckload which consists of 59 grinders with a 50 cable and a 2-year warranty. Campbell suggests that the Township maintain the current resale price of $2,995.00 per station. This would provide the Township with a $212.00 inventory/handling fee for each simplex grinder pump station versus the previous handling fee of $341.00. The Committee reviewed the issue of the inventory/handling fee and Podvoyski confirmed that the new fee of $212.00 would be adequate to cover the staff time for unloading and loading the pump stations and for inventory storage. Hohl noted that the resale cost of the grinder pump stations will likely have to be raised the next time the Township has to purchase the Simplex grinders. Page 3

Plant staff is currently working on our groundwater discharge permit renewal which is due later this month. Our current permit is set to expire in March. 2. The Wastewater Treatment Plant was out of compliance for one day in August for high total inorganic nitrogen. 3. We are tentatively scheduled to receive a full sludge haul at the end of the month. Once that is complete, our DPW staff will replace the aerators in sludge storage tank two and also install new valves in all the tanks to improve our sludge handling capability.

Attn: Michael Dorosh 21388 Spears Road Pinckney, MI 48169 Re: Approved Sewer Connection Contractor s List Dear Mr. Dorosh, Hamburg Township has made numerous attempts to contact you, both via mail and telephone, regarding your expired Certificate of Liability and Worker s Comp Insurance. Township records indicate that the current Certificate of Insurance on file with the Township expired on July 25 th, 2013. The Certificate must also name Hamburg Township as an additional insured. Under the Township s Policies and Procedures for the Selection of Contractor to Complete Connections to the Hamburg Township Sewer System the Municipal Utilities Committee may remove a Contractor from the approved list for cause. Please accept this letter as notification that the Committee feels it has cause to remove your name from the approved contractors list. If removed, you will no longer receive bid requests for new sewer installations nor be issued permits to complete any further sewer connections in Hamburg Township. The Committee is requesting that you attend the next Municipal Utilities Committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 11 th, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. to provide justification why you should not be removed from the list. If the issues cannot be resolved then you will be removed from the approved list. To avoid an appearance at the Committee meeting this issue may be resolved by simply having your current Certificate of Insurance either emailed to me at bcampbell@hamburg.mi.us or faxed to (810) 231-4295 prior to the meeting. Please be advised that the Committee has the final authority to determine whether or not you will remain on the Approved Contractors List. If you have any questions regarding this decision please contact the Township Supervisor, Patrick J. Hohl, at (810) 231-1000 Ext. 202. Regards, Brittany K. Campbell Hamburg Twp. Utilities Coordinator
