Sincerely yours, GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Fill-Rite LP Lube Pump is a positive displacement, direct drive pump for lubrication fluids. The rugged design makes for a long life of trouble-free operation. SAFETY The motors used in Fill-Rite LP pumps are listed with: Underwriters Laboratories Inc., a nationally recognized independent organization for product testing to ensure public safety. MOTOR The Fill-Rite Team WARNING Canadian Standards Association, a Canadian organization for product testing to ensure public safety. Explosion Hazard Static charge could result in a fire or explosion. Do not use pump with low flash point fluids (100 F or less) or in Hazardous locations. WARNING Electrical Hazard Improper use or installation can cause serious bodily injury or death. Motor must be properly grounded. Electrical wiring must be done by a licensed electrician. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. To ensure safe and efficient operation, it is essential to read the entire manual before installing or operating this product. 2. This pump is not suited for use with fluids containing water. 3. The pump motor is equipped with thermal overload protection. If overheated, it will shut itself off without damage to the windings. Turn off the pump power if this occurs. As the motor cools, it may start without warning if power is on. 4. NOTE: Pump has a built-in check valve with pressure relief to prevent fluid thermal expansion from causing unsafe system pressures. DO NOT USE ADDITIONAL CHECK VALVES OR FOOT VALVES UNLESS THEY HAVE PROPER PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES (MAX. 30 PSI) BUILT INTO THEM. GENERAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION Inlet: 2" female NPT mounting on pump, 1" female NPT for suction pipe. 2" male threads on quick detach adapter with 1" female NPT for suction pipe. Outlet: ¾" NPT Built in check valve, bypass and pressure relief valves Motor: Thermal overload protection Permanent sealed ball bearing construction Series LP50 kit pumps are as 115 VAC or 12VDC 115/230 VAC on bulk and demand pumps Performance Maximum outlet pressure from 50-650 psi (3.4-45 bar) Maximum flow rate: up to 36 qpm (34 lpm) Maximum viscosity of fluid pumped: See page 7. Maximum fluid temperature: 150 F Minimum fluid temperature: See viscosity chart page 7. Minimum dry vacuum: 6 inches of mercury Fluid Compatibility The LP pump is compatible with the following fluids: Motor Oil, Gear Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Industrial Coolant, Antifreeze (not to exceed 50% water), ATF, Waste Oil. The LP pump is NOT compatible with the following fluids: Water, Acids, Brake Fluid, Windshield Washer Fluid If in doubt about compatibility of a specific fluid, contact supplier of fluid to check for any adverse reactions to the following wetted materials. GENERAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS NOTE: Pump has a built-in check valve with pressure relief to prevent fluid thermal expansion from causing unsafe system pressures. DO NOT USE ADDITIONAL CHECK VALVES OR FOOT VALVES UNLESS THEY HAVE PROPER PRESSURE RELIEF VALVES (MAX. 30 PSI) BUILT INTO THEM. All tanks must be properly vented. Use oil resistant pipe sealant on all threaded joints. Drums must be properly secured to prevent tip over when full or empty. MOUNTING LP PUMP USING QUICK-DETACH BUNG ADAPTER Quick-Detach Bung Adapter 1" Suction Pipe Figure 1a Use sealant here Mounting the LP Pump using the Quick-Detach Adapter (See Figure 1a & 1b) 1. Screw length of suction pipe into the quick-detach adapter that extends 1" to 2" above bottom of tank. 2. Screw quick-detach adapter securely into tank bung. 3. Lubricate O-ring on pump inlet. 4. Position pump on adapter. Pump can be rotated in 90 increments. Tighten 2 screws to secure pump to adapter. Figure 1b Tighten screws Lubricate O-ring Mounting the LP Pump using the Motor Bracket (See Figure 2 & 3) CAUTION MOTOR MOUNTING BRACKET Mounting Bracket Always mount pump using motor bracket when mounting pump to a vehicle. 1. Using mounting plate as template, mark holes on mounting surface. 2. Use four 3/8" bolts with lock washers and nuts to attach bracket to mounting surface. Tighten securely. Mounting the LP Pump directly to a tank (See Figure 4) The Pump inlet flange has a 2" female NPT thread that can be mounted directly to a 2" male pipe thread on the tank. If only female threads are available on the tank, use a 2" schedule 40 pipe nipple to connect pump to the tank. 1. Screw correct length of 1" suction pipe into the pump inlet flange 1" port. Suction pipe should extend 2" to 3" above bottom of tank. 2. Thread pump directly onto the 2" tank nipple and tighten securely. INSTALLATION, DISCHARGE PLUMBING ON PUMP OUTLET LP50 Kit Pumps (50psi): Install hose and nozzle using oil resistant pipe sealant on threads. Tighten securely. If desired, install nozzle boot as shown. Tighten bolts securely. 1 2 # 1 Description Screw, on motor LP200 Series Bulk Pumps (200psi): Use hoses, pipes, fittings, and meters that can safely handle the rated pump pressure. A short length of flexible hose (5 FT. min.) is required at the pump outlet before connecting to rigid metal piping. For best performance, use the largest inside diameter pipe practical for long runs of pipe to minimize pressure drop and maximize flow rate. LP450 and LP650 On Demand Pumps (450-650psi): Use hoses, pipes, fittings, and meters that can safely handle the rated pump pressure. WARNING High Pressure Fluid Hazard Improper installation can cause serious injury or death. Use hose and pipe fitings rated for a min. of 800 psi A short length of flexible hose (5 FT. min.) is required at the pump outlet before connecting to rigid metal piping. For best performance, use the largest inside diameter pipe practical for long runs of pipe to minimize pressure drop and maximize flow rate. 2 Plastic Washer, found in literature bag Instructions for Removing the Motor Bracket Note: Bracket screws with supplied plastic washers must be re-installed in the motor to prevent dirt and moisture from damaging motor. 1) Remove motor bracket screws and bracket. 2) Slip plastic washer over motor bracket and re-install into motor. Tighten to 30 in*lbs. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN SCREWS. ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION WARNING Electrical Hazard Improper use or installation can cause serious bodily injury or death. Shut off all power before connecting wires to motor Electrical wiring must be done by a licensed electrician. LP50 Series Kit Pumps, AC Power Factory wired for 115VAC. Power to the unit should be supplied from a dedicated circuit breaker. AC extension cords must be capable of safely carrying the rated motor current. Use heavy duty, 3-wire, grounded extension cords. Note that long extension cords must be larger gauge wire to safely handle the electrical load: -up to 25 feet, 14 AWG wire -up to 50 feet, 12 AWG wire -up to 100 feet, 10 AWG wire NOTE: Many building codes require Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt (GFCI) protection. 4 LP50 Series Kit Pumps, 12V DC Power Factory wired for 12VDC. Circuit must be protected with a 50 amp automotive fuse. Power cord must be capable of safely carrying the rated current. Long power cords must be larger gauge wire to safely handle the electrical load. -up to 8 feet, 8 AWG wire -up to 20 feet, 4 AWG wire

LP200 Series Bulk Pumps See page 11 for factory set voltage. A diagram on the motor label describes how the electrical connections are to be made. Power to the motor should be supplied from a dedicated circuit breaker sized to handle the motor load. Provisions must be made to break both legs of the 230VAC circuit. Conduit should be used to protect all permanent wiring installations. LP450 & LP650 Series On-Demand Pumps WARNING Spill hazard Entire tank could be emptied by the On-Demand pump if a leak occurs in the nozzle, meter, hose, or piping. Turn power switch off when not attended. Pump Fluid Outlet "On-Demand" switch junction box. Customer supplied power here. Use sealed cable connection that prevents water from entering junction box. See page 12 for factory set voltage. Instructions in the "On-Demand" switch junction box describes the electrical connections. The neutral wire must be wired to the #3 terminal in the "On- Demand" switch juction box for proper operation. Ground wire must be connected to the green wire inside the "On-Demand" switch junction box. Power to the motor should be supplied from a dedicated circuit breaker sized to handle the motor load. Provisions must be made to break both legs of the 230 VAC circuit. Conduit should be used to protect all permanent wiring installations. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Note: Do not operate pump dry (except at initial startup), damage to pump could occur. LP200 Series Bulk Pumps: Place customer supplied nozzle in container to be filled. Turn on motor. Fill container to desired level. Shut off and remove nozzle. Turn off motor. LP450 and LP650 Pumps with "On Demand" switch: Make sure user supplied discharge nozzle is closed. Turn pump motor switch on. Motor may turn on momentarily to build pressure in line if pump has not been used recently. If motor does not shut off after 30 seconds, turn off power and see "Trouble Shooting Guide" on page 6. Place nozzle in container to be filled. Open nozzle. Motor will automatically turn on. Fill container or vehicle reservoir to desired level. Shut off nozzle. Pump motor will automatically shut off after 6 seconds. Turn off pump motor switch when not attended. Purge the air from the pump: Purge Valve and Purge Valve Screw are assembled to the pump at the factory. Purge Connector and plastic tube are in a plastic bag shipped with the pump. 1) Thread the Purge Connector to the Purge Valve. 2) Push the purge tube into the Purge Connector. 3) Start pump. Using a flathead screw driver, turn the Purge Valve Screw counter clockwise. When tube starts to fill with oil, tighten screw back down. Unit is now primed. 4) Remove Purge Tube by pushing in the black plastic portion of the Purge Connector and pulling the tube out. 5) Wipe up any oil drips. Purge Connector can be left on the pump or removed. Turn on motor. Fill container to desired level. Shut off nozzle. Turn off motor and hang up nozzle. 5

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE Problem Possible Cause Solution Dirty Strainer screen Remove and clean strainer Suction line problem Check for leaks in suction line O-ring in tank adptor damaged or missing. Inspect and replace o-ring if needed. Pump outlet is blocked or valve is shutoff. Check pump outlet system for blockage. Air trapped in system. Vent air from system (On-demand models have air purge valve) Pump Won't Prime Fluid level below suction pipe. Refill tank or add longer suction pipe. Fluid viscosity exceeds pumps rated capability. Refer to page 7 for viscosity limits Exceeds lift capacity of pump Do not exceed 7 feet of lift for oil Gears are locked. Inspect gears for smooth rotation, remove any debris. Excessive gear wear Inspect gears, replace if worn. Bypass valve not seating Remove/inspect bypass valve, clean if necessary. Shaft key is sheared or missing. Open rotor cover and inspect shaft key. Dirty Strainer screen Remove and clean strainer Suction line problem Check for leaks in suction line Fluid viscosity exceeds pumps rated capability. Refer to page 7 for viscosity limits Outlet system pressure too high. Check outlet system for blockage. Low capacity (low Nozzle or meter has higher pressure flowrate) requirements than what pump is rated for. Replace meter or nozzle. Bypass valve not seating Remove/inspect bypass valve, clean if necessary. Excessive gear wear Inspect gears, replace if worn. Low voltage to motor Ensure power at motor is at proper voltage. Motor stalls when valve/nozzle is closed. Bypass valve is sticking. Remove and inspect bypass valve. Clean if necessary. Motor stalls when Fluid viscosity exceeds pumps rated capability. Refer to page 7 for viscosity limits pump first starts. Gears are locked. Inspect gears for smooth rotation, remove any debris. Fluid viscosity exceeds pumps rated capability. Refer to page 7 for viscosity limits Motor overheats Gears are not rotating smoothly. Inspect gears for smooth rotation, remove any debris. Incorrect voltage Ensure power at motor is at proper voltage. No power to motor Check circuit breakers and electrical connections. Motor will not turn on Switch failure Replace switch. Motor has tripped internal motor protection. Allow motor to cool for at least 30 minutes. Missing or damaged seal Inspect affected area for proper o-ring/gasket. Pumps leaks. Shaft seal damage. Inspect and replace shaft seal if needed. Incompatible fluid pumped. Check fluid compatibility in Owners Manual ON-DEMAND PUMPS ONLY On-demand motor Fluid viscosity exceeds pumps rated capability. MAINTENANCE Disconnect all power and relieve pressure by opening nozzle before servicing pump. To keep pump running at its best, periodically perform the following procedures. 1. Check strainer for dirt accumulation. To clean strainer, remove strainer cover (item 18 on page 8) and pull out screen (item 20 ). Clean gasket surface on strainer cover (item 18 ), pump (item C ) and gasket (item 19). Reinstall and tighten strainer cover firmly. 2. Check hose and nozzle for wear or damage. Worn and damaged hoses or nozzles are potential safety hazards and should be replaced. 3. If the rotor cover (item 15) is removed, note that the rotor cover can only be reassembled as shown in the exploded view on page 8. REPAIR To maintain safety, motors that need repair should be taken to an authorized repair shop. Pumps must be thoroughly flushed and drained before being taken in for service. PRODUCT WARRANTY Tuthill Transfer Systems ( Manufacturer ) warrants to each consumer buyer of its Fill-Rite products (the Buyer ), from the date of invoice or sales receipt, that goods of its manufacture ( Goods ) will be free from defects of material and workmanship. Duration of this warranty is as follows: Heavy Duty Products - Two years Standard Duty Products One year Economy Duty Products One year Lube Transfer Products One year Cabinet pumps, Parts, and Accessories - One year Manufacturer s sole obligation under the foregoing warranties will be limited to either, at Manufacturers option, replacing or repairing defective Goods (subject to limitations hereinafter provided) or refunding the purchase price for such Goods theretofore paid by the Buyer, and Buyer s exclusive remedy for breach of any such warranties will be enforcement of such obligations of Manufacturer. If Manufacturer so requests the return of the Goods, the Goods will be redelivered to Manufacturer in accordance with Manufacturer s instructions F.O.B. Factory. The remedies contained herein shall constitute the sole recourse of the Buyer against Manufacturer for breach of warranty.
