VBS 50 AR/RR Installation and maintenance Important note for installation of sensors in machine tools upon usage of coolant lubricants: Sensor and especially its cable have to be installed in such a way, that coolant lubricant can drain off them. It is also important to fix the cable (especially in the area close to the sensor) with clamps to the machine, in order to eliminate its vibration. At all costs avoid installing the sensor or its cable in a place from which a complete coolant lubricant drainage is not possible. Coolant lubricant in such places (grooves, seams, or installation pockets) is unlikely to be replaced by fresh coolant lubricant; therefore it ages and develops aggressive bacteria, which are able to aggressively destroy even metals by acid burning. The only possible protection is cabling and fixing outside of such grooves plus an installation of a drainage bore hole into the sensor location. For cleaning of sensor, cable, or protection hose alcohol-based cleaning fluids have to be used, never use acetone-containing agents. VBS 50 ARSI 103 Installation and maintenance Important note for installation of sensors in machine tools upon usage of coolant lubricants: Sensor and especially its cable have to be installed in such a way, that coolant lubricant can drain off them. It is also important to fix the cable (especially in the area close to the sensor) with clamps to the machine, in order to eliminate its vibration. At all costs avoid installing the sensor or its cable in a place from which a complete coolant lubricant drainage is not possible. The only possible protection is cabling and fixing outside of such grooves plus an installation of a drainage bore hole into the sensor location. For cleaning of sensor, cable, or protection hose alcohol-based cleaning fluids have to be used, never use acetone-containing agents. Cable connection The coaxial cable must pass through metal parts like spindle, slide housing, etc. Such grounded parts will service as screen which must be connected to the outer screen of the continuing triaxial cable. It is not allowed to run the coaxial cable through a metal nonscreened environment! The following options for connection of the coaxial cable to a triaxial cable are available: Protection Hose with Screw Neck, Part No. 0.CL.VBS.M08HRC4-02 (M8 screw neck) or Part No. 0.CL.VBS.M10HRC4-02 (M10 screw neck), see separate data sheet or see on the right under optional connection system, points a and b. VBS 50 Micro Installation by bonding A separate data sheet explains all recommended sdhesives in detail which can be purchased from PROMETEC. Installation is achieved by bonding of the sensor base plate to the machine part with epoxy resin (permanent bonding) or cyan acrylate (fast, detachable bonding). It is of utmost importance to bond only the ceramic baseplate of the sensor to the surface. Ideally the sensor is positioned in such a way, that its sides do not come into contact with the drill hole. If the drill hole is sealed or potted, a soft grouting has to be used. Installation and maintenance Important note for installation of sensors in machine tools upon usage of coolant lubricants: Sensor and especially its cable have to be installed in such a way, that coolant lubricant can drain off them. As continuing cable, our Triax cable, Part No. 0.CP.VBS.RP4-SB3-xx (point d) must be used.
