The safety shock absorbers are ot desiged for regular operatioal usage. Calculatio of safety shock absorbers The calculatio of safety shock absorbers should geerally be performed or checked by ACE. Deceleratio Properties The orifice sizig ad drill patter i the pressure chamber are idividually desiged for each safety shock absorber. The respective absorptio characteristic is optimised correspodig to the maximum mass that occurs i the emergecy stop ad the impact speed. Correspodigly, each safety shock absorber is give a idividual idetificatio umber. Model Code For types SCS33 to 64, the idividual five-digit idetificatio umbers ca be take from the last digits of the shock absorber model code show o the label. Example: SCS33-50EUM-1XXXX. For type series SCS38 to SCS63, C63 to C160 ad E63 to E160, the idetificatio umber is a five digit umber. Example: SCS38-100EU-F-XXXXX. I additio to the model code, the label also shows the authorised maximum impact velocity ad maximum authorised impact mass for the uit. Moutig To mout the shock absorber, we recoed the use of origial ACE moutig accessories show i catalogue. The moutig of each shock absorber must be exactly positioed so that the reactio force (Q) ca be adequately trasmitted ito the moutig structure. The damper must be mouted so that the movig loads are decelerated with the least possible side loadig to the pisto rod. Moutig style frot flage -F Iitial Start-Up Checks First impacts o the shock absorber should oly be tried after correctly moutig ad with reduced impact speeds ad if possible with reduced load. If the shock absorbers were selected o calculated data that does ot correspod to the maximum possible loadig (i.e. selectio based o drive power beig switched off or at reduced impact speed) the these restricted impact coditios must ot be exceeded durig iitial testig or subsequet use of the system. Fixed Mechaical Stop Safety shock absorbers do ot eed a exteral stop as a stroke limiter. The stroke of the safety absorber is limited by the stop of the impact head o the shock absorber. For types SCS33 to SCS64, the fixed stop poit is achieved with the itegrated stop collar. What eeds to be Checked after a Full Load Impact? Safety shock absorbers that were origially checked oly at reduced speed or load eed to be checked agai after a full load impact (i.e. emergecy use) has occurred. Check that the pisto rod fully exteds to its full out positio, that there are o sigs of oil leakage ad that the moutig hardware is still securely fixed. You eed to satisfy yourself that o damage has occurred to the pisto rod, the body, or the moutig hardware. If o damage has occurred, the safety shock absorber ca be put back ito ormal operatio (see iitial start-up). Maiteace Safety shock absorbers are sealed systems ad do ot eed special maiteace. Safety shock absorbers that are ot used regularly (i.e. that are iteded for emergecy stop systems) should be checked withi the ormal time frame for safety checks, but at least oce a year. At this time special attetio must be paid to checkig that the pisto rod resets to its fully exteded positio, that there is o oil leakage ad that the moutig brackets are still secure ad udamaged.
