INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHEVRON CANOPY: G2.1 RETROFIT LED LIGHTING Please review site plans before proceeding. Contact LSI Graphic Solutions Plus Customer Service at 1-(800) 678-2001 for installation support. Read through all of the instructions prior to beginning installation, and verify (using the packing list) that all parts have been received and are in good condition. The LSI G2.1 LED retrofit lighting is designed to replace fluorescent downlights in existing canopies with an "eyebrow" constructed with a cavity roughly 4" x 4" in a 14" deep x 8" tall overhang. See Figure A. Typically these canopies have a 30" blue fascia, although this may be extended to 36". Hood 14" Existing fluorescent fixture 4" 8" 8 1 2" 4 1 2" 1" Reflector 30" Typical FIGURE A ACM Step 1. Remove the fluorescent fixtures and reflectors. (NOTE: Do not remove the electrical service, as this can be used to provide power to the transformer for the LEDs.) The remaining cavity should be 4 1 2" deep from front to rear and 4" tall. This may vary up to an inch in depth from front to rear, but the height is critical for the correct bracket placement and illumination. If the height varies more than 1 2", please contact LSI Customer Service to discuss your application. In some applications, white flashing may be needed to close out the cavity after removing the fixtures. See Figure B. Step 2. Install LSI G2.1 support brackets in the cavity, with the 90 degree corner flush to the top outside corner of the cavity. These may be installed to aluminum or steel sheet metal using #12 x 3 4" Tek screws. These are not supplied, as different fasteners may be required depending on the substrate they are mounted to. The installer must provide fasteners based on the site conditions. See Figure C. Beginning at the left end, install a bracket every 36" on center. The LED tracks are 109" long. With a 1" overlap at the ends, the track can share a bracket where two meet. See Figure D. Step 3. Install the LSI G2 60W power source assembly at the locations where electrical service is available. A transformer is required every 45 feet of LED, so additional circuits may be required, or conduit runs may be added to place the power sources where needed. Ideally, a power source should be placed at the left hand side of the cavity, and a transformer added every 45 feet. A licensed electrician must connect 120VAC 60hz power to the transformer in accordance with National Electric Code and local requirements. The transformers are rated at.63a input current, so up to 25 units can be run from a 20A circuit. These power sources are UL Recognized a Class 2 installation for damp location. The LSI G2 power source is provided with 5 feet liquid tight conduit and wires for connection. Proper grounding and sealing is the responsibility of the installer. The power source also includes a 3 foot jumper wire with connector to attach to the LED track once they are installed. See Figure E. Step 4. Install the LED tracks on the lower point of the support brackets, with the LED towards the bottom. See Figure F. Use the #10 x 1 2" Tek screws provided. Be careful not to damage the LEDs or wiring while drilling in place. Each track should overlap 1" onto the next track, aligning the holes in the end of the track and sharing a support bracket. At the end of a run, the track can be cut to length to fit the available space. Trim between LEDs, and at each end if necessary for the best fit. Any cut wires should be capped with wire nuts. Step 5. Each track has a pair of jumper wires provided to connect from one end to the next. The LED circuit board has a tab marked positive and a tab marked negative. Push the spade connector on to the tap to connect positive to positive using the yellow wire and negative to negative using the black wire. At the beginning of a run, the jumper wires from the power source must be connected, yellow to positive and black to negative. A maximum of five 9 foot sections (45 feel total or 135 LED modules) can be connected to one power source. See Figure G. LED Track Yellow (Positive) Black (Negative) FIGURE G Step 6. The same LEDs and power supplies can be used for accent bands if white ends are installed on the canopies. Bullnose or flat fascia should be built by the installer's guidelines, and LSI brackets are used for the LED track in the upper front corner. Please contact LSI Customer Service to coordinate fit if LSI accent brackets are not used. Downlight and Accent LEDs can be run from the same power source, but additional wire leads will need to be ordered as custom to jump the corners.
