SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE The Military Vehicles Service Manuals Collection consists of service and operator's manuals for military vehicles and equipment produced by Ford Motor Company during World War II. The collection was originally held in the office of J.A. Steinbruckner, Ford Motor Company, Ford Division, Superintendent of Catalog Section, Planning and Research Department, before being transferred to the Ford Motor Company Archives. The material has been arranged in two series. The United States Military series, 1941-1945 (10 cubic ft.), is comprised of repair and operator manuals for military vehicles and equipment built by Ford Motor Company for the United States military. The series is primarily comprised of maintenance and repair catalogs and parts list catalogs (Standard Nomenclature Lists) and detailed maintenance and repair procedures (Technical Manuals). Vehicles and equipment included armored cars, automobiles, jeeps and reconnaissance cars, general equipment and assemblies, equipment produced by other manufacturers, tanks, heavy-duty trucks, and universal troop carriers. The Ford of Canada series, 1940-1944 (0.5 cubic ft.), consists of repair and operator manuals for military vehicles and equipment produced for the Canadian and British military. Equipment and vehicles include armored cars, automobiles, jeeps and reconnaissance cars, and trucks.
