Wood frames secure the glazing to skylight. The skylight units are manufactured in accordance with a quality assurance system (QAS) that conforms to IAPMO UES minimum requirements. 3.1.1 Tempered-Laminated Glazing: The factory-sealed glazing unit has one sheet of 6.7 mm laminated glass (nominal 3 mm glass + 0.76 mm PVB interlayer + nominal 3 mm glass) on the interior, one sheet of 4 mm tempered glass on the exterior, and a 14.3 mm air space with and metal spacer. Nominal overall thickness is 25.4 mm. 3.1.2 Tempered-Tempered: The factory-sealed glazing unit has two sheets of nominally thick 4 mm tempered glass separated by a 16.2 mm air space with and metal spacer. Nominal overall thickness is 24.1 mm. 3.2 FX and FX-EL Skylights: The skylights consist of wood frame members with corners fitted together and reinforced. Roll formed angle-shaped aluminum perimeter capping is fitted over the head, jambs and sill. Oval head screws secure perimeter capping. Sets of holes punched in the three fins of the EPDM sill-glazing gasket drain the glazing cavity to the exterior. The holes in the top-most fin are located inboard of the jamb glazing gasket, while the holes in the middle and lowest fins were staggered outboard. 3.2.1 Air infiltration evaluation: Maximum Air Infiltration Rate for the units is 0.3 cfm/ft 2, in conformance with IECC Sections 402.4.2 and 502.4.1. 3.2.2 Water penetration: The skylight units comply with the water penetration requirements in AAMA 101/LS.2/A440 and AC17. 3.2.3 Uniform Load and deflection: Table 1 of this report lists allowable positive and negative performance grade (PG po and PG ne) ratings for each skylight model. Allowable loadings on the glass shall be calculated in accordance with IBC Sections 2404.2 and 2404.5.2. The adequacy of the skylights shall be determined in accordance with IBC Section 2404.5.2. 3.3 FV and FV-ELA Skylights: The skylights consist of wood frame members with corners fitted together and reinforced. Oval head screws attaches the aluminum head capping to the head riser on the exterior. The top ends of this capping wrapped around the upper end of each jamb member, the corners of the capping are folded and crimped. 3.3.1 Operable Skylights: The operating force for the FV and FV-ELA operable skylights complies with requirements in AAMA 101/LS.2/A440 and AC17. 3.3.2 Air infiltration evaluation: Maximum Air Infiltration Rate for the units is 0.3 cfm/ft 2. In conformance with IECC Sections 402.4.2 and 502.4.1. 3.3.3 Water penetration: The skylights units comply with the water penetration requirements in AAMA 101/LS.2/A440 and AC17. 3.3.4 Uniform Load Structural and deflection: Table 1 of this report lists allowable positive and negative performance grade (PG po and PG ne) ratings for each skylight model. Allowable Loadings on the glass shall be The product described in this Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) Report has been evaluated as an alternative material, design or method of construction in order to satisfy and comply with the intent of the provision of the code, as noted in this report, and for at least equivalence to that prescribed in the code in quality, strength, effectiveness, fire resistance, durability and safely, as applicable, in accordance with IBC Section 104.11. The adequacy of the skylights shall be determined in accordance with IBC Section 2404.5.2. 3.4 FVE and FVE-ELA Skylights: The skylights consist of wood frame members with corners fitted together and reinforced. Oval head screws attaches the aluminum head capping to the head riser on the exterior. The top ends of this capping wrapped around the upper end of each jamb member, the corners of the capping are folded and crimped. An electric actuator with a double link articulated chain operates the sash. A remote switch controls the operation of the electric actuator. The chain engaged a sash bracket via a sash screw. 3.4.1 Air infiltration evaluation: Maximum Air Infiltration Rate for the unit skylights was less than 0.3 cfm/ft 2, in conformance with IECC Sections 402.4.2 and 502.4.1. 3.4.2 Water penetration: The skylight units comply with the water penetration requirements in AAMA 101/LS.2/A440 and AC17. 3.4.3 Uniform Load Structural and deflection: Table 1 of this report lists allowable positive and negative performance grade (PG po and PG ne) ratings for each skylight model. Allowable loadings on the glass shall be calculated in accordance with IBC Sections 2404.2 and 2404.5.2. Skylights performance grade rating value shall equal or exceed the maximum loadings as prescribed by IBC Sections 2404.2 and 2405.5.2. 4.2 Installation: Installation shall be in accordance with the applicable code, the manufacturer s installation instructions, and this report. Where conflicts occur, the more restrictive shall govern. Installations are intended for wood roof decks with flat roof coverings where the minimum roof slope is 12:12 (45 degrees) from the horizontal under the IBC and 3:12 (15 degrees) from the horizontal under the IRC and Group R-3 occupancies under the IBC. The maximum slope is 75 degrees from horizontal. Rough openings sized according to Table 1 of this report shall be prepared into the deck. Roof coverings shall be removed at least 12 inches (305 mm) beyond openings. The skylights shall be installed over minimum 0.42 Specific Gravity wood support members aligned to each jamb and sill of the skylight frame. Each jamb and sill shall be fastened with three No. 14 by 7 7 / 8 inch long (200 mm), corrosion-resistant flat head wood screws (twelve total) Screws shall be placed through predrilled holes in the skylight jambs and sills and penetrate through the roof sheathing and in the roof framing. A self-adhering roof underlayment shall then be applied on the roof sheathing around the entire skylight frame, lapped shingle style, and shall continue up to cover the sides of the skylight frame. The underlayment shall be lapped at the corners of the skylight frame. Flashing shall comply with, and be installed in accordance with, IBC Section 1507 or IRC Section 905, as applicable. The roof covering shall then be replaced around the skylight. 5.0 LIMITATIONS 5.1 Skylights shall be installed on roofs with 45 degrees minimum roof slopes, except on R-3 occupancies and under the IRC when the minimum slope is 15 degrees. 5.2 Skylights shall be installed on framing members with 0.42 minimum specific gravity. Supporting members shall be designed and installed in accordance with applicable code requirements. 5.3 Highest point of glass shall be 12 feet (3.7 m) or less above walking surface or other accessible area. Otherwise, screens shall be provided in accordance with Sections 2405.3 of IBC or R308.6.3 of IRC. 5.4 Repairs to the roof covering are outside the scope of this report and shall be performed to the satisfaction of the code official. 5.5 Skylights are limited to Types III, IV and V Construction under the IBC and any construction under the IRC. 6.0 SUBSTANTIATING DATA Data in accordance with ICC-ES AC17, Acceptance Criteria for Glass Glazed Unit Skylights and Sloped Glass Glazing Approved June 2007.
