Special Repair Instruction (R11135) DATE: 08-07-97 CAT. NUMBERS: KD900RE, KD900CRE TYPE NUMBER: 01 DESCRIPTION: HAMMER PLUS DRILL NOTE. Only the recommended grease (324035-01) must be used for repair, which is available in 1Kg containers. It is critical that the gearbox is packed with 100 gms of grease, particularly around the intershaft assembly. 1) CHUCK REMOVAL Refer to repair drawing in product dossier For removal of the chuck, service tool Part No. 559600--99 ( Chuck Removal Wedges) item 840 2 off are required. Position wedges (1) between the rear of the chuck (2) and the shoulder on the output spindle (3), with their angled faces against each other. With the flat end of one wedge positioned against a hard surface, strike the end of the other (4) with a metal hammer until the chuck comes off the taper. 2) CHUCK FITTING. Carefully clean the taper then push the chuck firmly on. By rotating the chuck ring retract the jaws fully, select hammer mode on the drill and use against a piece of wood for a few seconds. Page 3
