Principle of operation The Maxifluss double offset eccentric plug rotates into the seat at an angle that eliminates sliding over the seat surface. This double eccentric design causes the plug to lift away and clear the seat immediately as it starts to rotate without any breakaway torque when the plug shaft is turned from the closed into the open position. The valve opens smoothly and therefore shows a stable control response at small opening angles. The process medium can flow through the valve in either direction. The standard direction of flow is for Liquids = flow to open (direction of flow "V"), Gases and vapors = flow to close (direction of flow "H"). The flow coefficient is determined by the opening angle of the plug. The inherent characteristic of the Maxifluss Rotary Plug Valves can be converted into a linear or equal percentage characteristic using positioners and cam discs. "H" => <= "V" Fail-safe position Attached to the VETEC Type R Diaphragm Rotary Actuator, the control valve has two fail-safe positions which become effective when the piston is relieved of pressure as well as when the supply air fails: "Valve CLOSED without supply air", the Maxifluss Rotary Plug Valve is closed when the supply air fails "Valve OPEN without supply air", the Maxifluss Rotary Plug Valve is opened when the supply air fails.
