April 2016 Visit us online at: www.lubbockmustangclub.com The Lubbock Mustang Club is on Facebook! (please "LIKE" us and you will automatically get all the current info). 1982-2016 34 years and counting! The Lubbock Mustang Club is Proud to be an MCA Regional Club! Car of the Month - April 2016 Larry & Deanna Rasco s 1995 GT Would you like to see your car here? Then send picture and information about your Mustang to Mike Cochran mrdoc126@yahoo.com or mail the info to LMC, P.O. Box 65399, Lubbock TX 79464

Dues for 2016 are now due. $20 for new members, $25 for returning members. Send to Lubbock Mustang Club P.O. Box 65399 Lubbock, TX 79464 (or bring to an event or meeting) At the end of April we will have to start removing those who haven t paid from the roster & mailing list. We hope you will stay with us for another great year, but if not, we understand and hope to see you on down the road. President s Notes No Foolin its April! Hello fellow Mustangers, Things will begin to get busy for all of us that love classics, currents and car shows in general. Just a glance at the information that Mike has in the

newsletter will confirm that it s car show time, whether it s for fun or a judged event. Without taking away from all of Mike s information, there s at least 5 events this month including our annual birthday party at AIM bank. If you ve never attended, it s a fun event, free food and plenty of cars and visitors (if mother nature co-operates). Along with the fun it s an important time for us to show support to AIM as a sponsor and to visit with those guys/gals at the bank. We should also have some Mustangs from Pollard and maybe something from NAPA and Birdsong auto. Please take time asap to get a door prize and ditty bag items for our earlier car show. The date is coming fast, so please be working on that for our club. While a gift of an item, car related is preferred, we can take gift cards, especially to our sponsors such as NAPA, Birdsong and Pollard. Vasia Craddick with Celebrate Today will be at the meeting briefly to update us on their activities since they will have buckets at the birthday party asking for donations to help that organization. They are associated with the UMC cancer center, are a non profit and raise their funds from events like ours. Leslie Breslin from the Family Guidance & Outreach Center will also be there to discuss her organization and, of course, the Blue Ribbon Rally Please put April 7 th on your calendar and join us at the Red Zone café. John Mike's Thoughts Wow, April is going to be a busy month! Here are the events our club has a connection to and that we really encourage you to attend If you have never done the Memory Ride & Candlelight Vigil, you should check it out on Sunday, April 3 rd. This is put on by the Family Guidance & Outreach Center, the same folks

who do the Blue Ribbon Rally. It s done in memory of the children in Texas this year who lost their lives due to child abuse or neglect. We meet in Mackenzie Park and then have a police escort around the loop to 2 nd Baptist Church (just like a funeral procession, which in reality it is). The vigil is held in the church and you can go to it or leave after the ride. More info here http://www.facebook.com/blueribbonrally Our monthly Membership meeting is Thursday, April 7 th at Red Zone Café. The Challenger Little League Opening Day ceremonies and car display is Saturday, April 9 th. This is a league for children with disabilities and we have members with children who participate. This is a cool event with many segments of our community there, including police and fire displays, helicopters, game wardens, etc. We are the only car club invited, so I hope you will consider going, it s a lot of fun. Click HERE for flyer. Our Annual Mustang Birthday Party is Saturday, April 16 at the Aim Bank Slide Rd. location, from 10am to 2pm. As you know, the first Mustang was released in April of 1964 and so we celebrate in April. For many of us, this is our favorite event of the year. Just 4 hours, it s not a show and your car does not have to be show ready. There s free lunch and birthday cake for everyone who brings a car to display and we also collect money for Celebrate Today, a part of the Southwest Cancer Center. Master chef Larry Rasco will be cooking for us again so come hungry! Click HERE for flyer. Last but not least, the 18 th Annual Blue Ribbon Rally is Saturday, April 30 th. Put on to raise funds for the Family Guidance & Outreach Center, this is a huge show and our club volunteers every year to do the parking. Please come out if you can and help us. You have to be there early, around 6:30am, but in exchange you don t have wait in line to park and get an excellent parking spot in the center of the show (and we get to all park together). There will be well over 200 cars and we need all the help we can get. Contact me or Jimmy or Ronnie for more info if you think you might can come out. More info here http://www.facebook.com/blueribbonrally As always, for more info on these events and several others in April, Including Caprock Classic s cruise to Silver Falls this Saturday and a display at Bolton s on Sunday (both to benefit the Van Odom cancer fund), check out the Coming Events page on the web site. There you will find links to web sites, flyers and entry forms. Here s a link click HERE. If you are going on the Silver Falls Cruise, bring drinks and a desert. A meal will be provided for a donation. Sorry for the rather lengthy column this month, but I wanted to also include this picture of club president John Robison with his grandson Ethan. Ethan is a big Mustang fan and you may remember we all signed a birthday card for him at the February meeting. John got him a club jacket for his birthday and here is a picture of the happy Mustangers -
