Procedure: UNIVERSITI TEKNIKAL IMPORTANT: ANY CONNECTION TO THE POWER SUPPLY & MOTOR MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY INSTRUCTOR. 1. Ensure all power supplies are disconnected before commencing any wiring. 2. Perform components functionality test as per test sheet. 3. Using all the components given to you, wire-up the Direct On-Line motor starter circuit as shown in Figure 1. Starts with the control circuit wiring. 4. After the control circuit has been wired-up, get the permission and assistant from the instructor before making connections to the supply 240V. 5. Connect the power supply to the control circuit. Ensure the voltage is correct. Beware Live 240V electricity is present. 6. Turn-on the power supply. Test the control circuit and observe its operation. Rewire the control circuit if the outputs are different from theory and retest its operation. 7. Turn-off and disconnect the power supply. 8. Once the control circuit has been completed and tested accordingly, wire-up the D.O.L main circuit. DO NOT CONNECT to the power supply and motor just yet. 9. After the main circuit has been wired-up, get the permission and assistant from the instructor before making connections to the motor. 10. Press and release the START button. Observe and record down what happen in the control and main circuits. 11. Press and release the STOP button. Observe and record down what happen in the control and main circuits. 12. Test the tripping function of the thermal overload relay with a test pen. 13. Answer all questions in the test sheet. 14. Write a laboratory report.
