POLICY REQUIREMENTS Page 1 of 7 All requirements under Dangerous Goods POLICY apply ALL tanks are to be constructed to an applicable, approved design standard and are to meet all legislative and policy requirements ALL tanks are to be appropriately labelled and marked, as per relevant legislative, regulatory, design standard and policy requirements ALL tanks must have a complete, serviceable spill kit During refuelling, a serviceable fire extinguisher must be immediately available, with a minimum rating of 4A:60B:C ALL tanks are to be securely fastened to their means of transport ALL fuel trailers and tank vehicles, when parked, must be secured by applying the parking brakes or chock blocks ALL nozzles must have an automatic shut-off and be properly stored when not in use ALL tanks are to be protected against damage and impact All refuelling areas are to be free of combustible materials for a distance 3 metres NO SMOKING or sources of ignition 3 metres from an area where fuels are handled No gravity-feed systems Fuel tanks should never be filled over 95% of their maximum capacity During refuelling, the operator must be in constant attendance of the nozzle Main fuel storage tanks are to be emptied prior to being transported ( 750L), whenever possible No refuelling or storage of petroleum products within 100 metres of a stream, river, lake or other natural watercourse or water body Refuelling systems (tanks, pumps, valves, hoses, nozzles, restraining devices, carriers) must be inspected regularly and maintained as required
