Beloit, Wisconsin, USA Fairbanks Morse manufacturing facilities, totaling some 70 acres, are located in Beloit, WI. 2 Fairbanks Morse Engine was formed in 1885 by the merger of the Eclipse Windmill Company and the Williams Steam Engine Works. Since that time, Fairbanks Morse Engine has manufactured a wide variety of products, with the greatest success being the manufacture of diesel engines. In 1968, FME acquired the exclusive U.S. license to market, sell, and manufacture the S.E.M.T.- Pielstick engine for both commercial and U.S. government programs. This partnership between FME and S.E.M.T. has produced state-of-theart Colt-Pielstick engines that are made in the U.S.A. Colt-Pielstick engines power the LSD-41 Whidbey Island class, the TAO Henry J. Kaiser class, the T-AKR Bob Hope class, and the LPD-17 San Antonio class ships. The Colt-Pielstick PA6B is being introduced to the Navy supply system as the ship service diesel generator sets for the LHD-8 ship. In 1995, FME furthered its global partnership by acquiring the exclusive U.S. license to market, sell, and manufacture MAN B&W engines for U.S. government programs, allowing access to a wide range of technologically advanced diesel engines that are also made in the U.S.A. FME is currently manufacturing FM-MAN B&W 48/60 engines for the new integrated diesel electric-drive T-AKE Lewis and Clark class ships. Manufacturing engines and providing aftermarket sales and service is the primary business of Fairbanks Morse Engine. The Colt- Pielstick product line includes the PA6B, PC2.5, PC2.6B, and PC4.2B. The PA6B and PC2.5 are available with Sequential Turbocharging (STC) for low speed, high torque applications. The FM-MAN B&W product line includes the 27/38, 32/40, 40/54, 48/60B, and 58/64 engines.
