Enterprises 2017 Regional statistics on entrepreneurial activity Establishments gross value of output grew in Half of the growth was generated in SMEs In, there were 357,000 enterprises operating in Finland. There were 350,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) representing 98 per cent of the enterprise stock. The enterprises had a total of 388,000 establishments of which 93 per cent were SMEs establishments. The combined gross value of output of establishments was EUR 285 billion. The value of output was EUR nine billion higher than in. SMEs establishments produced per cent, or EUR 4.7 billion of the total increase in gross value in the whole country. The engines for growth were SME s establishments in construction and service industries. Growth was recorded in almost every region. In Uusimaa, value added increased from EUR 41 billion to close on EUR 44 billion. Uusimaa produced one-half of the whole country's growth. The share of SMEs in the region s value added varied between 37 and 60 per cent. More than one-half of the region s value added was generated by SMEs in North Karelia, Pohjois-Savo, North Ostrobothnia, Etelä-Savo, Varsinais-Suomi, Kainuu, Åland and South Ostrobothnia.
