What we are especially pleased with is the Cat Center-Lock Pin Grabber Coupler which does not require my operator to install a safety pin. It saves time and convenience as my operators can interchange attachments with ease and peace of mind without having to leave the cab. My operators are happy with the comfort and ease of working with this machine. The compact radius of this model provides the added advantage of allowing it to manoeuvre and work in tight spaces comfortably. Visible Secondary Lock There is no need to boom in, stick up and invert the attachment to unlock Center-Lock. Simplified operation allows attachments to be engaged and disengaged in limited overhead conditions such as under bridge decks and power lines. The lock on the front pin of the attachment is clearly visible to the operator always showing the status of the coupler: open or closed. The latest Cat product for the electric power industry, the C175-20 generator set, was unveiled at the scenic Marina Barrage on 23 October 2012. Jointly organised by Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL) - the authorized Cat dealer for Singapore, Maldives and Christmas Island (Indian Ocean) - and Caterpillar Electric Power Asia Pacific, the launch event was attended by invitees from project consultancies and the utilities and telecommunications sectors. The event opened with welcome speeches by Mr Alan Ow, General Manager of TSL Power Systems and Mr Ringo Chow, General Manager of Electric Power Asia Pacific, Caterpillar. There, the audience learnt more about the Cat C175-20 engine as well as about the wide range of products available for their power generation needs, from gensets to scalable integrated solutions such as the Critical Power Module. Guests also had the opportunity to get upclose with a C175 genset. For instance, it has a 55 percent smaller footprint when compared with 2 units of Cat 3516B generator sets, and a 28 percent reduction when compared with a unit of Cat 3612. The C175-20 genset is suitable for power generation for large, mission-critical applications such as data centers and emergency standby power for buildings. Civil Aviation Administration of China-Xinjiang Regional Administration Building Civil Aviation Administration of China-Xinjiang Regional Administration started its plan to build radar stations in 7 regions that cover perfectures like Hotan, Kashgar, Korla, Aksu, etc in 2011. Xinjiang Regional Administration is renowned to prefer international brand generator sets with good quality and excellent reliability because of Xinjiang s extreme weather conditions. Xinjiang Regional Administration had an long-term partnership supplier and it was going to be a challenge for the team from The China Engineers Limited (CEL) - a member of the Sime Darby Group and the authorized Cat dealer for Hong Kong, Macau, Southern China and Xinjiang to break the stronghold especially as the Olympian generator set is new to the market and had no high market advantage todate. With better understanding of the customer s concerns and believing that a picture is worth a thousand words, The China Engineers Limited (CEL) invited representatives from Xinjiang Regional Administration to visit the on-site operation of Olympian generator set (one unit GEP 550-1 with 400KW) that was bought by Yongfeng Armed Police Forces in 2010 June with the operation hours counted to 200+ as of January 2012. By coincidence, when the visitors reached Yongfeng Armed Police Forces, it was experiencing a power-cut situation. The standby Olympian genset had by then kicked in and was in full operation, providing power to the heating equipment and other living facilities. The management from Yongfeng Armed Police Forces were more than happy to share with our visitors, the reliability and stability of the generator set and how it could provide quick response whenever the power is needed. The testimony certainly boosted our visitors confidence in Olympian products. There was also the added benefit that Xinjiang Regional Administration can take full advantage of Olympian s remote intelligent control system to manage its control panels. There is nothing like experiencing a real-life situation and hearing the end-user s affirmation to convince Xinjiang Regional Administration to reach its decision to purchase from CEL, 14 units of Olympian generator sets which consisted of GEP88-3 (70.4KW) and GEP150-1 (120KW). The C175-16 has been successfully used in a variety of application since it was introduced in 2008. Customers such as PICC, the South Disaster Preparedness Center, the China Unicom, the Merchant Bank Credit Card Center, Beijing Environmental Protection Park of Shenzhen Huawei are amongst the numerous satisfied end-users which can attest to its advantages. The newly announced C175-20 is a higher-speed engine designed for prime and continuous power applications, as well as for standby power for large, mission-critical installations, such as data centers, water treatment, health-care and so forth. These are its characteristics: 4.0 MW out-put power from a single package at 60Hz; 55% reduction in footprint when compared with two 2MW 3516B generator sets; For prime and continuous power generator sets, the oil change interval is 600 hours; for the standby generator sets, a three-year oil change interval option is available; Low fuel consumption versions are available; Certified to EPA Emergency Tier 2 levels. The cloud-lined skies provided golfers some respite from the sun s rays on 14th September 2012, when Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL) held its 10th customer golf tournament at the Sentosa Golf Club. During the dinner, guests were treated to a slideshow of photos taken during their game. There was also a prize presentation for performance and novelty prizes, where the top performance prize of a Tag Heuer watch, sponsored by Cat Finance (Machine), went to Mr Diederik De Boer from Miclyn Express Offshore. The call for donations continued during the dinner to garner more funds for the hospice, eventually bringing the total amount raised to more than $23,000, inclusive of pledges from sponsors prior to the event. Representatives from Assisi Hospice Sister Linda Sim and Ms Teo Siew Hong (Senior Manager, Community Engagement) took to the stage to express their thanks for the guests generosity and continued support. The funds received would be of great assistance to the hospice, which relies largely on donations for its daily running operations in caring for adults and children who suffer from terminal illnesses.
