Operation Instructions (translation) Explosion Protection Explosion protection is one option and is marked on the ex-type plate on the solenoid drive. The actuators and the associated solenoid controllers correspond to ignition protection class na category II3G and can be used in areas in which potentially explosive gas, vapour, mist or air mixtures are not expected to occur, and if so seldom or only for brief periods, i.e. explosion zone 2. The electrical and thermal parameters of the individual variants can be found on the type plate. The explosion protection refers to operation. In case of installation, maintenance or repair the respective ex-directives, especially EN 60079-14 (VDE 0165 T1) are to be observed. The electric installation is to be executed by an electrician under additional observance of the relevant national directives (in Germany VDE 0100), or respectively, the installation must be supervised by an electrician. Subsequent to installation the information of the device markings are to be compared with the planned for conditions of operation to guarantee an operation in accordance with the regulations. Principles As a standard combinations of valve drive are supplied in a completely installed and checked state. On exchanging or changing of solenoid drives it must be observed, that the combination with an UNI-valve has been released and the magnet is correctly (e.g. permitted starting torque) installed onto the valve. Solenoid drives are electronic components, which are not operable without the respective valve. Solenoid valves with an A in the type key consist of starting coil and a restraining coil. After switching on of the valve the valve control switches from the starting power to the lower holding power. In case of open-air installation always use solenoid drive in IP65 with rain protection hood. Obviously damaged drives must not be installed, or respectively, must be exchanged. If the drives are subject to external loads of special types, additional protective measures must be applied as necessary. Electrical Connection Connection lines for drives, which are marked with an x behind the type of protection, must be temperature resistant up to at least 100 C. When choosing the connecting line, conductors of adequate cross section must be selected as well as the correct type of cable gland (EN60079-14). The diameter of the cable gland can be obtained from the relevant data sheet.if fl exible connecting lines are used, insulated end sleeves for strands with plastic collar as per DIN 46228 part 4, must be used.. The connection thread of the cable gland amounts up to 30 Watt M16x1,5, from 40 Watt M20 x 1,5. The available distribution voltage must be available at the drive in an area of between 15% to +10%. As protection against short circuits a fuse (max. 3xIB as per DIN 41571 or IEC 127), which corresponds to the rated current of the drive must be superposed on the solenoid drive. The rated safety current of the fuse must be equal or higher than the stated rated voltage of the solenoid drive. The turn-off ability of the fuse link must be equal or larger than the maximum short circuit current at the installation site. To at least guarantee the protection type IP 54, the solenoid housing lid must be carefully re-installed. Variants which are supplied ex works including a connection cable, are ready for use, i.e. the connection room needs not be opened any more. The capacitors in the solenoid valve control TS800C must be discharged by an expert. 1 TM 3275
Operation 100% ED are permitted even in case of the most unfavourable ambient conditions permissible. DANGER! During continuous operation the solenoid drive may get hot. Don t touch, danger of injuries! During operation it must be guaranteed, that neither the maximum permitted ambient temperature or of the fl uid nor the load limit (excess voltage) will be exceeded. If necessary the solenoid drive is to be protected against overcharging. All solenoid drives are wired with a varistor. To avoid induced voltage, which may cause damage of the line, the user must provide protective measures in case of necessity which go beyond the installed varistor. CE-Identifi cation The Council of the European Community passed common directives for the free movement of goods within the European Community, which determine the minimum requirements for safety and health protection. The CE-identifi cation confi rms, that the products correspond to the EC directives, i.e. are in agreement with the relevant, especially harmonized standards. For explosion-proof solenoid drives the following directives are to be considered: 94/9/EG, 2006/95/EG und 2004/108/EG. Note concerning directive 94/9/EG (explosion protection directive ATEX 100): The solenoid drives fulfi l the relevant requirements of directive 94/9/EG; therefore they have the CE-identifi cation as per annex X of the directive. The declaration of conformity is included. Note concerning directive 2006/95/EG (Low-Voltage Directive): The drives were developed, designed and produced in accordance with the standard Electromagnetic Appliances DIN EDV 0580. Thus they will also fulfi l the requirements of the low voltage guidelines, which apply to rated voltages from 50 to 1000V AC and from 75 to 1500V DC. Note concerning directive 2004/108/EG (EMV-Directive): The solenoids fulfi l the requirements of the specifi cation of the product families EN 55014-1,-2 ; EN 61000-3-2, -3-3 concerning the industrial sector as well as the sectors of private housing, business and trading, as well as of small businesses. On using of AC- and DC-variants the user must provide a suitable mains fi lter (e.g. X-capacitor 47 nf) at the mains entrance to attenuate the physically caused line-related turn-off current of the solenoid. In the sense of the EMV-directives solenoid drives with driving elements for valves are not regarded as independently operable appliances and are only processed further by expert companies, or respectively installed into a machine. They must not be started up until it was determined that the machine, or respectively, the complete line, corresponds to the regulations of the EMV-directives. Dismounting of the solenoid drive Stop the solenoid drive and cut off voltage supply.. DANGER! During continuous operation the solenoid drive may get hot. Don t touch, danger of injuries! 2 TM 3275
