2. Install Roof Module 2.1 Safety Notes The AutoFarm system must be powered OFF when installing or removing the roof module. The supplied locking pin or a padlock must be in place whenever the vehicle is in operation. The roof module must be removed when transporting the vehicle at speeds above 30 mph (50 kph.) Make sure that you are in a stable position on the tractor platform when removing the roof module, so that you do not fall or drop the roof module. 2.2 Install the Mounting Rail Remove the two rear lights and install the roof bracket over the two mounting holes as shown in the photo below. bracket hole locations 3
Align the mounting rail to mounting holes and fasten the mounting rail to the roof using the two steel bushings and longer bolts provided. The lettered holes and the dummy cable connector must be on the left side of the tractor. left side of tractor longer bolts bushing The two bolts that secure the mounting rail will be used to secure the rear lights. Reinstall the rear lights to the original position. roof mounting rail hole 4
2.3 Mount the Roof Module Slide the roof module into locked position. The cable connection must be on the left side of the tractor, facing the rear. cable connection Make sure that the spring lock is in place. locked position 5
Insert and close the locking pin through the holes in the roof module and the mounting rail. Note that a padlock can replace the locking pin. locking pin Attach the radio modem antenna. Note: The antenna should be attached hand tight. Do not use any tools to tighten the antenna. (Different vehicle shown below.) Note: The antenna is provided with the radio modem kit on AutoSteer systems using an external radio modem. Refer to the radio modem kit instructions for details. 6
3. Install the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS) 3.1 Wheel Angle Sensor Overview The Wheel Angle Sensor is shown in the diagram below. sensor bracket linkage arm bracket sensor linkage arms 7
3.2 Mount Linkage Arm and Sensor Brackets linkage arm bracket (side view) linkage arm bracket (front view) sensor bracket 8
3.3 Mount the Sensor sensor 3.4 Mount the Sensor and Connect the Linkage Arms sensor bracket linkage bracket linkage arm 9
3.5 Adjust the Sensor and Linkage Arms Adjust linkage arm length and/or linkage bracket position to obtain between 3200 and 3800 counts during steering calibration. Turn the wheels all the way in both directions to make sure the linkage arms can move without interference. Note: This step is done after final assembly during the calibration and tuning steps. 10
4. Install the User Terminal 4.1 Assemble and Mount the User Terminal Bracket Mount the bracket to the steel door handle. mounting position 11
Mount the bracket assembly as shown in the figures below. The bracket can also be mounted behind the door handle as shown in the figure below if desired. 12
4.2 Mount and Adjust the User Terminal Attach the adjustable arm and mounting plate to the user terminal using the four small screws provided. mounting plate Remove the travel stop on the bracket assembly. 13
Install user terminal arm on to the cab bracket. Replace the travel stop. 14
Tighten the arm on to the bracket. (Different vehicle shown below.) Remove adjustment bolt caps. 15
Adjust user terminal arm tightness. Replace adjustment bolt caps and adjust user terminal viewing angle. 16
The completed User Terminal installation is shown in the figure below. 17
5. Install the SA Module 5.1 Mount the SA Module Bracket Mount the SA module bracket in a protected position under the rear of the cab. Secure the bracket using existing bolts on the tractor or the bolts and screws provided in the installation kit. Note: It is essential that the SA Module is NOT mounted so that the cable connection is on the top or on the side with the cable going up. SA Module mounting bolts bracket 18
6. Assemble and Mount the Hydraulic Valve 6.1 Install the Hydraulic Valve Fasten the valve bracket into place on the right side of the rear axle. Mount the hydraulic valve bracket vertical plate using the two large bolts provided in the installation kits. Hydraulic valve 19
7. Install the Hydraulic Hoses 7.1 Assemble the Hydraulic Hoses Assemble hoses as shown (Hose length is not shown to scale below.). valve pressure port (P) pressure line valve return port (T) return lines valve load sense port (LS) load sense line valve right/left steer in port right/left on lines from tractor steering unit valve right/left steer out port tractor steering cylinder lines 1/4 NPT elbow for pressure transducer load sense line to priority valve teflon tape for NPT threads load sense line from AutoFarm valve load sense line from steering unit shuttle valve adaptors adaptor 20
7.2 Route the Hydraulic Hoses Summary: Steer IN and OUT hoses are routed from the hydraulic valve, under the cab, to the vehicle s steering lines. Note: Secure the hoses with cable ties and be sure they are clear of moving parts and heat sources. 7.3 AutoSteer Valve Port Connections Hydraulic Hose Steer In (Right) Steer In (Left) Steer Out (Right) Steer Out (Left) Pressure Return Load Sense Pressure Transducer Valve Port Label SR SL R L P T LS Trans 21
