Saline batteries Recommended for all uses requiring continuous low discharge over very long periods, and/or high instantaneous or pulse discharge, air-depolarized saline batteries offer the key advantage of combining high energy density with stable voltage levels. Technology Saft saline batteries are based on a zinc-oxygen electrochemical couple. Depolarization is produced by atmospheric oxygen. The electrolyte is an aqueous gel solution of ammonium and zinc chloride. Advantages Saline batteries offer stable voltage levels, exceptional storage life, and high reliability. They provide high energy density: 40 Wh/kg and 50 Wh/dm 3 on average. Saft saline batteries require no maintenance and function satisfactorily at temperatures ranging from -5 C to +45 C. Variations in atmospheric humidity have no significant effect on their operating performance. Main applications Saft saline batteries are recommended for continuous low discharge (less than 0.2 Amps) and/or high instantaneous or pulse discharge applications. They are therefore particularly suited for: rail signalling emergency telephones on motorways parking meters lighthouses and buoys electric fences, etc. References AD 540 AD 535 AD 524 AD 57 AD 53 AD 6540 AD 6535 PRO PRO TURBO PRO PRO 30 60 20 Physical characteristics Length (mm) 55 65 86 06 70 68 92 92 68 92 Width (mm) 55 65 86 06 70 3 28 28 3 28 Height (mm), including terminals 2 7 95 95 205 4 62 62 4 62 Weight (kg) 0.36 0.7.42 2.4 6.2.95 3.75 4.5.95 4.5 Nominal electrical characteristics Open circuit voltage (volts).4.4.4.4.4 8.4 8.4 8.4 8.4 8.4 Nominal capacity at c/5000 (Ah) 55 90 50 270 900 55 90 30 60 20 Typical discharge Resistance (Ω) 40 5 0 5 2 300 300 300 300 300 Duration (h) 950 250 400 300 650 2400 400 5600 2600 5500 Maximum current (A) Continuous 0.05 0. 0.2 0.3 0.75 0.05 0. 0. 0.05 0.
