Houston Way/McDonnell Bollards The Houston Way fire lane entry portal is a Restricted Use fire lane entry control point. Part of an agreement with the local Fire Department Authority is to have an entry point to the inner campus Fire Lane, which is restricted and not open to all parties. This entry portal to the inner campus, gives Emergency Responders a second route to use for entry onto the University Fire Lane. Adherence to Rules & Regulations will be closely monitored and violations will be handled swiftly. *Important Safety Note ONE VEHICLE ALLOWED PER VALID CARD SWIPE* Contact Information Customer Service: (314) 935-5544 Card Access: (314) 935-9661

Fire Lane Rules & Regulations While driving on the WUSTL Fire Lane vehicle flashers, or other visual warning devices, must be on while vehicle is in motion. Five (5) MPH is the maximum speed limit while operating a vehicle on the WUSTL Fire Lane. Please note this is strictly enforced. Pedestrians have the right of way at all times. Vehicles are not allowed on sidewalks, grass, bricks, steps, ramps, or anywhere within the Quad. No Parking on the WUSTL Fire Lane; a vehicle cannot be left unattended on the Fire Lane. If you cannot park in an area that is not blocking the Fire Lane, someone must remain with the vehicle at all times. Drivers/vehicles must be authorized by University Police/Transportation, Event Services or Facilities, Planning and Management in order to drive on the WUSTL Fire Lane. Over sized vehicles such as dump trucks, trailers, and vans permitted to drive on streets and highways are restricted to fire lines ONLY. Vehicles are not allowed on side-walks, grass, bricks, steps, ramps, or anywhere within the Quad. ONE (1) VEHICLE PER CARD SWIPE Piggybacking is not authorized and may cause serious damage to your vehicle. This card is non-transferable; lending is strictly prohibited and will result in privileges being revoked. Any misuse of this card will cause your privileges to be revoked. If, at any time, the bollard(s) are down with the light showing RED please immediately call Customer Service or Card Access to report. If at anytime you feel your vehicle is too large to pass safely through the bollard entry point please contact Card Access to arrange for assistance in getting all entry/exit bollards lowered for safe passageway. Fire Lane Operational Guide: Entering Campus Fire Lane Step 1: Vehicle approaches bollard and is at a complete stop with driver window adjacent to the entry card reader. If there is a vehicle already at the card reader you must wait until that driver has proceeded and the bollards are back in the raised position before approaching the card reader. Step 2: Driver swipes a Valid WUSTL ID Card; Card Reader will turn green IF card is accepted. Step 3: Driver needs to look at Light Standard on the Drivers Side of vehicle adjacent to bollards. DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL LIGHT IS GREEN. Step 4: Two (2) entry bollards will lower after valid card has been accepted. When bollards are in motion, the light will flash RED. When light turns solid GREEN; vehicle may proceed and enter inner campus.

When light turns solid GREEN; vehicle may proceed and enter inner campus.

Temporary Parking Areas This is a temporary parking area. Vehicles should not be parked here for longer than 15 minutes Monday thru Thursday between 8AM and 6PM. There is no parking here on Friday's between 6AM and 12Noon, in order to allow for trash pickup. From Noon to 6PM on Friday, this is a 15 minute parking zone. There is space for two vehicles to temporarily park in this area; parking here is limited to 15 minutes. One space is reserved for Bon Appétit and Food Catering deliveries, Monday through Friday from 6AM - 6PM. This is an Active Fire Lane and for Emergency Vehicles ONLY. There is NO PARKING here at any time. Vehicles blocking the Fire Lane will be ticketed and towed.

Parking on the Fire Lane will result in your vehicle being ticketed and towed at the owners expense.

Note to Drivers: Special Notes & Reminders If a card is swiped and is not accepted, please promptly call your Project Manager, Supervisor, Event Coordinator, or the person that approved your access to WUSTL inner campus. Note to ALL: Do not swipe your card to allow a vehicle to enter campus on the exit bound card reader. Do not swipe your card to allow a vehicle to exit campus on an inbound card reader. You must swipe in the same direction as the vehicle is traveling. Note to ALL: Only one vehicle per card swipe is allowed to enter/exit across the bollards at one time. The passing of more than one vehicle per card swipe will result in the termination of fire lane access Anyone found to not follow Fire Lane Rules & Regulations will have their access privileges revoked until such a time that Rules & Regulations can be explained in depth to parties within violation.
