DONAUKOMMISSION * COMMISSION DU DANUBE * ДУНАЙСКАЯ КОМИССИЯ S T A T I S T I C S Statistics on navigation conditions on the Danube are published by the Danube Commission since 1963 and cover period from 1950 until recent years (see site directory «Publication activity», «Catalogue of publications»). The following are statistics on key indicators in the Danube navigation in 2007. 2 I. AVAILABILITY AND COMPOSITION OF THE DANUBE FLEET As of 2007, fleet for the transport of goods and passengers at the Danube ports consisted of 4 105 vessels. Given fleet by number of vessels increased by 2%, in 2007 against that of last year, meanwhile cargo fleet increased by 2,4%, as well as passenger fleet declined by 7,1%. Generally cargo fleet of the member-states was specified not only by increase of number of vessels (excluding towed barges) up to 3 962 in 2007, but by increase of its total power and carrying capacity, up to 791 548 kw and 3 840 080 tonnes respectively. 4 II. TRANSPORT OF GOODS In 2007 transport of goods on the Danube increased by approx. 5 mln. tonnes or by 10,1 %, against that of 2006, averaged out to about 80,6 mln. tonnes. Transport of goods (71%) have the largest share in transport between Danube ports, as well as transport between Danube ports and ports, situated outside the Danube, accounts for 9% and transit falls within 20%. In recent years increase of transport of goods is due in large part to the increased transport both between Danube ports and transit. In 2007, in comparison with recent years, aforesaid increase mainly was assured by means of increased transit (122%), at the same time increased transport between Danube ports accounts for 106% and transport between Danube ports and ports, situated outside the Danube declined by 20%.

CARGO TURNOVER OF ALL DANUBE PORTS Total cargo turnover volume of all Danube ports on Standard Goods Nomenclature in 2007, accounts for over 65, 7 mln. tonnes, increased by 12,2%, against that of last year. Largest share (over 85%) in cargo turnover of all Danube ports refers to such goods as crude and refined minerals; iron ores, scrap metal, blast-furnace waste; base metal; cement, lime, construction materials manufactured; solid mineral fuel; cereals; natural and man-made fertilizers, as well as petroleum products.
