TECHNICAL DATA Customer complaint The vehicle does not move forward. Possible cause piston rest failure. Fault finding No fault codes appear on the diagnostic tool: Move the gear lever to the N position, Remove the automatic transmission fuse (ATX), Check that the vehicle can then start and drive in hydraulic 3, and in reverse gear. After having removed the automatic transmission fuse, the vehicle MUST be driven in hydraulic 3, and in reverse gear. Operation to be carried out Replacement of the. Remove the automatic transmission (see MR for the vehicle, Driveshaft,, Automatic transmission oil: Removal - Refitting or Technical Note for the vehicle). Place the automatic transmission on a clean workbench. Remove the converter (plug the inlet opening to prevent impurities from entering). The shape of the housing is designed so that oil can flow out during the dismantling operation. Prepare for oil to flow out. Remove: the modular connector mounting (1), the multifunction switch (2). The multifunction switch must be in position N in order for it to be removed. Description of the operation All of the cleanliness conditions must be satisfied before the automatic transmission is opened. It is essential to respect the order of operations and instructions for using the tools recommended for the operation. Observe the recommendations when disconnecting the battery (see MR for the vehicle, Electrical equipment, 80A, Battery, Battery: Removal- Refitting). Disconnect the battery, Drain the automatic transmission (see MR for the vehicle, Driveshaft,, Automatic transmission oil: Oil change or Technical Note for the vehicle). -3
Remove: the right-hand sunwheel O-ring (A), the converter housing. NOTE All of the bolts on the converter housing are identical. Remove the converter seal, the strainer mounting bolt (B), the oil pump mounting bolts on the converter housing, the oil pump - strainer assembly. Rinse the converter housing with mineral spirit or degreaser. Blow the housing carefully with compressed air. Rotate the automatic transmission to finish the oil change. Remove the converter housing seal: -4
Undo the F3 counter pressure bolt: Recover the brake band mounting lug from the housing: Fit the new : Remove the pin if it is present on the automatic transmission. Remove the : The has a direction of fitting. It must be fitted in accordance with the diagram below. Fit the pin -5
Tighten the F3 counter pressure bolt to a torque of 67 N.m: Assemble the new strainer and the oil pump. Check that the seal between the oil pump and the old strainer has been removed from the oil pump. The new strainer is supplied with a new seal. Replace the oil pump casing O-ring. Refit the oil pump - strainer assembly. Tighten the oil pump mounting bolts on the converter housing to a torque of 10 N.m, respecting the order below. Refit the converter housing seal: The converter housing seal must be replaced if it is damaged or if the rubber section is broken. Refit the strainer mounting bolt (C) and tighten it to a torque of 10 N.m. Fit the magnet (B) to the strainer after having cleaned it. Fit the tool B.Vi 1460 to the right-hand sunwheel in order to avoid turning the lip seal upside down when refitting the converter casing. -6
Refit the converter housing. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 29 N.m. Refit a new O-ring (A). Refit the converter. NOTE Engage the converter, holding it perfectly in line with the inlet shaft. Turn and manoeuvre it into position. When it is in place, the end of the studs are level with the engine/gearbox coupling surface. Fit the retaining pin or secure the converter if the automatic transmission is refitted to the vehicle immediately after the repair operation. Refit: the modular connector mounting (1), the multifunction switch (2). -7
Adjust the multifunction switch: position the shaft in neutral, measure the resistance at the multifunction switch terminals, rotate the multifunction switch casing until the contact closes (resistance at the terminals = 0 Ohms), tighten the multifunction switch mounting bolts to a torque of 10 N.m. After tightening, the contact should still be closed. CLAIM COMPLETION AND CODING When to take action Upon receipt of a customer complaint.
