Price List Page 2 Effective: May 3 Magnum IEC Description and Application Cutler-Hammer Magnum are designed and engineered specifically for use in Metal Enclosed Switchgear assemblies applied at nominal voltages of 380/45, 440, and 500/690 Vac. Ten continuous ratings through 0 ampere, are covered by only two breaker sizes. A new Frame is also available for even greater space savings through A. The breakers are 00% rated and are built and tested in an ISO 900 certified facility to applicable standards including EN60947-2. Magnum air circuit breakers feature high interrupting and shorttime ratings in small physical frame sizes. Interrupting ratings from 40 ka to 00 ka are available. The Magnum utilizes a true two-step stored energy mechanism for manually and electrically operated breakers. The potential energy is stored in the mechanism to close the breaker in 5 cycles or less. Sufficient energy to open the breaker remains available following the closing operation. After closing, the charging spring can be recharged to provide potential energy for reclosing following a fault, providing high continuity of service. This feature allows for the following sequence: charge-close-recharge-open-close-open. On manually operated breakers, closing springs are charged by hand. For electrically operated breakers, springs are charged by an electric motor but can be manually charged if no power is available. Power conductors are insulated and isolated in an engineered composite resin frame that provides protection to personnel in front of the breaker. The levering-in device includes a safety interlock which prevents the door from being opened when the breaker is in the closed position. The breaker cannot be withdrawn when energized. The advanced family of Digitrip RMS programmable trip units were designed exclusively for Magnum. It uses proven microprocessor trip unit technology to provide expanded protection and information capabilities. True RMS sensing trip units provide accurate coordination with the conductors and equipment the breaker is designed to protect. Basic protection is offered in the Digitrip RMS 220, 520, 520M and 520MC. Advanced protection is offered in the Digitrip RMS 50 which can be programmed at the faceplate or with a PC. The Digitrip RMS 220 provides long time and instantaneous protection only. The Digitrip RMS 520 enables the user as many as nine phase and earth current protection settings for maximum flexibility in tripcurve shaping and multi-unit coordination, and adds earth current protection settings. The Digitrip RMS 520M adds phase, neutral, and earth current metering in a four character LCD display window. The Digitrip RMS 520MC includes all of the capabilities of the 520M trip unit as well as communications capability. The Digitrip RMS 50 provides programmability for more sophisticated distribution systems. It incorporates systems monitoring information including power factor, voltage, current, harmonic distortion values, and waveform capture with a three line (eight character) LED display. In addition, this trip unit has two programmable contacts, time stamping of trip events, % accuracy on metered values and 2% on energy and power, systems diagnostics and IMPACC/PowerNet communications. A common family of accessories are available to fit all breaker frame sizes. Magnum through-the-window accessories are installed near the right front of the breaker. The unique windows in the breaker cover enable accessories to be quickly identified by name and rating. These accessories are plug-in, providing for easy mounting and wiring to save both installation time and cost. Spring release, shunt trip and undervoltage release are offered as factory installed options or they can be easily mounted in the field by user personnel. Internal accessories include auxiliary switches (up to 6 NO and 6 NC contacts), overcurrent trip switch (Bell alarm) and an electrical operator can also be mounted at the factory or in the field.
