By Judy Holman July 2014 My Road Runner came out of the garage and spent the day as part of the Power Tour that made its second stop here in Knoxville at Chilhowee Park. What a day this was. Power Tour participants began arriving at noon. Mike and I were at the park to register at 12:45 that afternoon. We were parked on the Midway side that was already half full. Now, anyone who knows me knows that I am a car nut. I ve attended small car shows and national meets, but this tour was non-stop cars! Every make, year, model, stock, modified, classic to daily driver. It was car overload! I got the camera out and we began to take it all in. Row after row of cars - they were all different. Mopar, Ford, Chevy, pickups, and station wagons. I ve never seen so many different station wagons in one place. As we were walking and taking pictures, a Power Tour car ran out of gas as the owner was trying to park. Everyone pitched in and helped out. That s what car people do. We headed to the manufactures midway area. They had vendors for your engine, transmission, sound system, parts (Auto Zone), and clothing. Even a lawn mower that can run 96mph. We made our way towards the Zoo side of the park and the cars were still arriving. This parking lot filled up in no time flat. They put cars on the grassy area as well. The best set up I saw were cars labeled Plan A and Plan B. The classic/muscle car with several family members were in the car labeled Plan A, with the daily driver (mostly pickups) labeled Plan B as the back up vehicle. There were cars behind the Jacob s Building and in front of the boxing arena. We took a break after walking for several hours and sat by the front gates and watched MORE cars arrive. There were about 3,000 cars on the Power Tour arriving from North Carolina along with the rest of us who were there for the day. So when you hear there were 4,500 cars at Chilhowee Park - believe it! The pictures of the Power Tour include all makes and models - a tribute to all cars. Our Fun In The Sun car show is right around the corner. We still need several members to volunteer for a day of show job. Kids door prizes and dollar bill race prizes are still needed. Remember to bring everything to the workers meeting for John. I will have extra ETM club t-shirts at this meeting if you need one. Read John s article for more information. See you all at the worker s meeting, Tuesday, July 15, at 7:30pm at Chilhowee Park.

Page 7 Editor s Notes By Judy Holman What does it mean when you see a puddle of antifreeze on the passenger side floor mat? It means you get to replace the heater core! That s what happen to the Road Runner when we went to the Power Tour. After Mike drained the antifreeze and disconnected everything it was time to remove it from inside the car. I got inside and position myself on the floorboard to help bring the heater core down and around the shifter. Here s where being a women gets in the way. In order to reach the core and get a good grip on it, something had to be squashed. There was no way around it. Needless to say, it didn t take long to remove the heater core from the car. What we do to keep our cars running. Have you seen the latest Auto Trader commercials? The Duke boys are back and still driving Mopars. The latest Fast and Furious movie will feature a 1970 Dodge Daytona as Dom s car. Really cool! As this newsletter goes to press, we have 51 cars pre-registered, 7 t-shirt sponsors, items for a great goodie bag, terrific door prizes are still coming in, and looking forward to great weather. Remember, if you bring your Mopar to the show, park around the flag pole. All other member s cars need to park behind the First Aid Station building. *This is a reminder to all club members, when renewing your membership, please fill out a club application and send it with your money.
