Selectio Procedure Performace Curves are based o 50 SSU oil eterig the cooler 50 F higher tha the ambiet air temperature used for coolig. This is referred to as a 50 F E.T.D. To covert horsepower to BTU/Hr.: BTU/HR = Horsepower x 2545 Determie Eterig Temperature Differece. The eterig oil temperature is geerally the maximum desired oil temperature. Eterig oil temperature Ambiet air temperature = E.T.D. Determie the Corrected Heat Dissipatio to use the curves. Corrected Heat Dissipatio = BTU/HR heat load x 50 F x viscosity correctio A. E.T.D. OIL VISCOSITY CORRECTION MULTIPLIERS B Desired Reservoir Temperature Temperature: coolers ca be selected usig eterig or leavig oil temperatures. Off-Lie Recirculatio Coolig Loop: Desired reservoir temperature is the oil temperature eterig the cooler. Retur Lie Coolig: Desired reservoir temperature is the oil temperature leavig the cooler. I this case, the oil temperature chage must be determied so that the actual oil eterig temperature ca be foud. Calculate the oil temperature chage (oil #T) with this formula: #T = (BTU s/hr.) / (GPM Flow x 210). To calculate the oil eterig temperature to the cooler, use this formula: Eterig Temp. = Leavig Temp + #T. Pressure Drop: Most systems ca tolerate a pressure drop through the heat exchager of 20 to 30 PSI. Excessive pressure drop should be avoided. Care should be take to limit pressure drop to 5 PSI or less for case drai applicatios where high back pressure may damage the pump shaft seals.
